Day 9 - Village of the Damned (1960). Great concept and certainly a classic but a bit stuffy in execution.

9) New Release: Muppet Haunted Mansion
Oh, man. This teen horror film was pretty bad. However, I must admit that I had fun with how unintentionally funny it can be at times. The plot is a good one, but Corin Hardy’s overwrought direction makes the end result feel very over-the-top and silly. The gore was cool, though. 2/5 #31DaysOfHorror
Day 8 of 31: They Live (1988)
Speaking of bland protagonists, that man was just casually strolling around through existential horrors dropping one liners left and right.
The message is…well, quite fitting even after all these years 😬 also, awesome practical effects.
3/5⭐️
Day 7 of 31: Scanners (1981)
I can’t tell if it was the bland protagonist or what but I felt like something was missing 🤔
Great sci-fi horror, awesome practical effects, and a great villain.
3.5/5⭐️
Given the premise that this TV horror film has, I was expecting director Tobe Hooper to go all out in the insanity department. While it does do that on occasion, it doesn’t quite capitalise on the potential that it could have had. Plus, it can be a bit dull and disjointed too. 2.5/5 #31DaysOfHorror
Jayro Bustamante’s follow-up to his terrific previous film LA LLORONA definitely wasn’t the film I was expecting when I started watching it, but that’s what made it a unique experience. It’s a captivating, powerful and heartbreaking fantasy horror/drama with a sublime young cast. 4/5 #31DaysOfHorror
While I can definitely see some people being disappointed that it’s not a full-blown horror film, I still found this a compelling and exquisitely made film nonetheless. A mix of coming-of-age drama, horror, psychological, supernatural and giallo elements made it a riveting watch. 4/5 #31DaysOfHorror
tonight for #31daysofhorror we watched one of Andrew's favorites, Evil Dead 2!
Arizona: this isn't a horror movie this is just what its like being white sometimes
Andrew: this movie put the word 'groovy' in my vocabulary
This was a rewatch at #RegalTheatre with their horror movie a day event. Every time I watch this movie I love it just a little! #31daysofhorror #inthemouthofmadness #horrormovies
Day 9: 31 Days of Horror: Now watching: The Hills Have Eyes 1977 🩸⛰️👀
Despite the enhanced gore of the remake, I definitely still prefer the original. Micheal Berryman rules and the movie’s pace is much better. A superior presentation overall 😎👌🏻
RNG for #31DaysofHorror sends us to the bottom of the list:
The Mortuary Assistant (2026)
Based on the video game, a young assistant in a mortuary does her final training night shift. Bad things happen.
Somehow, the worst-rated film on our list this year.
Day 9 of #31DaysofHorror goes to John Carpenter’s The Fog (1980). Absolutely one of Carpenter’s best films, and maybe his most underrated. Such a great, spooky, coastal ghost story, with a killer soundtrack. Plus, Jamie Lee, Tom Adkins, and Adrienne Barbeau. #horrormovies #horror #filmsky

Jennifer's Body (2009)
Film #375 /Day 9: Quicksilver Highway
Felt heavily like someone was trying their hand at an anthology horror series, gave up, and then just combined the two they did into a single film. The Clive Barker Hands story was a little more engaging than the Stephen King one. #31DaysOfHorror
Ok sucked into the Carrie universe
