Came here to say this. I’m liberal as hell, but they’ve definitely converted me on the second amendment. 

Also, I concealed carry because open carry is for idiots and attention seekers. If you want to have your gun snatched and used against you, go ahead and open carry.

I'm not opposed to regulation, I support common sense legislation. But ch. 135 has made things worse, not better, and it dodges the legislature's responsibility to do the hard work of providing for our common good. It's lip service, and we deserve better. Vote no on question 9. #mapoli #2A4All

This law just cracks down on people already doing their best to color within the lines, and meaningfully disadvantages people who, because of the climate we live in, are now more substantially restricted in what they can access than the people who threaten them. #mapoli #2A4All

It's obvious to anyone with even a passing understanding of guns that the people who wrote this law don't know the first thing about them. And to anyone with knowledge of the legislature, that this was the easy road instead of things like rent control or healthcare reform. #mapoli #2A4All

Anyone who was going to violate the AWB is not going to be deterred by these new restrictions (which SCOTUS is likely to toss soon anyway). In fact, this law did nothing to prevent what could easily have become MA's first mass-shooting in over 20 years. This simply ain't it. #mapoli #2A4All

There are some good things in the new law. As a renter, I like not having to send certified mail to the state and two different police departments whenever I move. A single portal interaction takes care of that now. Rimfire guns not being ASFs is great. But those are minor. #mapoli #2A4All

I'm not kidding about that last one, by the way. The proposed live fire qualification for obtaining your license to carry in MA is significantly more strict than the shooting test to carry a firearm that you can deploy with impunity as a cop. Make that make sense if you can. #mapoli #2A4All

These guns are too dangerous for us to have, but if you are, or were, part of an organization that terrorizes communities and murders random civilians, or has a 40% self-reported rate of domestic abuse, or whose officers never actually train with their guns, go to town. #mapoli #2A4All

Something that didn't make it into this article, but I wish it had, is that this law exempts law enforcement, all law enforcement at every level, from the law for their personal weapons. That's right, ICE agents, current and retired, can have whatever gun they want under this. #mapoli #2A4All

Ch. 135 made the AWB significantly more restrictive, and confusing, by including components that are ubiquitous on firearms as "evil". Stocks that partially encircle the barrel of a rifle are a feature, for example. Repeal would put us back where we were, not kick off a free-for-all. #mapoli #2A4All

Very excited about this article. More evidence on the pile that guns are not the sole domain of right wing nutjobs. There is one inaccuracy I'd like to see corrected though: Q9 will not repeal the assault weapons ban, it would restore it. #mapoli #2A4All

Given the insane, divisive rhetoric of the right wing (including much of it by Trump himself), this is absolutely not surprising at all.

This is why it’s silly for us on the left to unilaterally disarm ourselves with all these crazy MF’rs in our midst. No way will I be defenseless.
