I’ve sorted my 2026 reads into YES, NO, and MAYBE.
The YES books I’d recommend instantly.
The NO books I’d happily stop you from buying.
And the MAYBEs are the books I’m still thinking about.

I wrote a blog post inspired by reading Not with a bang, and buying Everybody’s Perfect.
1. Releasing our burdens: a guide to healing individual, collective and ancestral trauma, by Richard Schwartz & Thomas Hubl
2. We burned so bright, by T.J. Klune (1st book read by this author, keen to read more!)

5. A Deadly Episode, by Anthony Horowitz (audiobook)
#2026reads #JulyReads 2/2
July was a month where I didn’t read (or at least didn’t finish) a lot of books. Only one non-audiobook. I’m still ‘behind’ my random target now at the end of September.
I’ve got very behind posting about books I’ve read this year. Will try and get caught up throughout today.
1. The Name Game, by Beth O’Leary (audiobook)
2. Me and Mr. Darcy, by Alexandra Potter (audiobook)
3. American Fantasy, by Emma Straub

No.18 The UncannyX-Men, Volume 1, Red Wave, by @gailsimone.bsky.social #2026reads
Well, it's been a couple of decades, let's see what the hype is about.
This feels right.
No.17 Rosewood Abbey, by @rolistespod.itch.io #2026reads
Really like that, may not entirely work with my regular group, but it's always worth trying.
I'm not convinced though that I managed to get my head round the Rumor Mill system; Kalum, do any of the YouTube videos show it in detail please?
#22 Simon Reynolds: Still In A Dream
Loved this look back at an era which contains a lot of bands I love.
#21 Jenni Fagan: The Delusions
Out of sequence as I read this enjoyable end of the world novel a few weeks ago.
88th Read of 2026: The Alchemist of All Hallows Eve by Gigi Pandian. 10th book in a very underrated cozy magic mystery series. Excellent story right in time for spooky season.
87th Read of 2026: Sir, This is a Tesco by whatkeepsusalive. Meet-cute in the jam aisle of a Tesco near midnight. Very silly, very funny. Lots of cute domestic fluff and sweetness.
86th Read of 2026: Killing Me by Michelle Gagnon. A former grifter on the run, a drug-addict prostitute, the true-crime-obsessed owner of a sleazy Las Vegas motel, & an antisocial computer genius team up to hunt down a serial killer.
85th Read of 2026: A Trade of Blood by Robert Jackson Bennett. Third book of a fantasy/mystery series, this one focused on a family feud and fungi-induced zombies. Disturbing in all the right ways. I love this series.
#20 Bill Sykes: Sit Down! Listen to This! - The Roger Eagle Story (e-book)
I wasn't aware of Eagle outside context of Eric's but he was significant promoter for 30+ years, mainly in MCR.
Contains traditional disturbing early life story, although unlike Peel, there's no legal defence.
#19 John Lewis Carré: A Legacy of Spies
A literal airport thriller, picked it up en route to Germany.
A wrap around prequel/sequel to Spy Who Came In From The Cold, so it was helpful that I re-read that recently!
84th Read of 2026: On Passage by @appleseeds.bsky.social. Holiday romance. Az's suitcase is lost en route, so he has to work with the booking agent until it's found. Obvs, the agent is Crowley: a flirtatious, coupon-wielding menace.
83rd Read of 2026: Charting a Course by @sakascal.bsky.social. Sweet story of a growing friendship on a cruise. Two people with trauma, trying to heal, starting to realize that past experience is not a predictor of the future.
