I've found the quintessential English village. It's not where you think. I didn't discover it in the Cotswolds, Devon, or the Lake District.

Oh no. Instead I stumbled across it in Essex. And Stock's a stone's throw from, Ian Dury reference alert, Dickie's Billericay.

Cotswold stone buildings with stone roofs, most houses here are thatched but I love this little interesting corner. On the left the corner of the pub with a hanging basket, parasol, black lantern lights and a hedge. On the right on the other side of a bare earth lane, a yew tree, a well, cottages, black metal fence, gate, black lantern lights and chimneys.
