Since Angular 22, we can use arrow functions inside templates, which I feel should actually be a very welcome change.

Are you already using it?

#Angular #WebDev #TypeScript #Frontend

<!-- a terrible way of using it -->
@for (todo of todos().filter(t => !t.done); track todo.id) {
  <app-todo [todo]="todo" />
}

<!-- an actually good way of using it -->
<button (click)="todos.update(list => list.map(t => ({ ...t, done: true })))">
  Mark all done
</button>

unknown isn’t a bad type.

It honestly says: “I haven’t verified this value yet.”
as User only changes what TypeScript believes. It validates nothing at runtime.

That’s where type guards help. 🛡️

unknown is an honest description of an unverified value.
as User changes what TypeScript believes — not the runtime value.
A small composable guard may be all you need. 🛡️

I am thinking of making a small library that helps use decision models like Clef/Jev inline in code seamlessly

Do you think it is worth it?

#TypeScript #AI #JavaScript #OpenSource

if (await decide`is the response in English?`(response, {min: 0.9})) {
  await save(response);
  notify(user, response);
}

Does programmatically rendering components really make sense now that we have `defer`? What would be a realistic use case now?

One I can think of is directives showing other components on demand, although IDK if this is now considered a good practice

#Angular #WebDev #TypeScript

@Directive({
  selector: '[appTooltip]',
  host: { '(mouseenter)': 'show()', '(mouseleave)': 'vcr.clear()' },
})
export class TooltipDirective {
  text = input.required<string>({ alias: 'appTooltip' });
  protected vcr = inject(ViewContainerRef);

  show() {
    this.vcr.createComponent(Tooltip, { bindings: [inputBinding('text', this.text)] });
  }
}

TanStack Start 1.0 is stable and supports React Server Components. Yet Tanner Linsley says he stopped using RSC on tanstack.com: it got too hard to reason about what shipped where.

That's the point. RSC as an option, not the whole app model.

@tanstack.com #React #TypeScript

Dark UI card titled 'RSC as an option, not an ideology' with a quote from Tanner Linsley: 'Ultimately I decided to stop using it on tanstack.com.' A panel lists per-route modes in TanStack Start: render on the server, load data on the server and skip server render, or render in the browser. A second panel notes typed server functions and middleware that runs across client and server.

TypeScript 5.7's ReadonlyMap and ReadonlySet finally let you catch mutation bugs at compile time instead of debugging them in production, making immutable data structures actually enforced by the type system.

New article ✍️ Validating `unknown` in TypeScript without a schema library.

unknown → runtime check → safe narrowing.

Type guards, safeParse, JSON boundaries, and when a full schema library is still the better call 😸
