#StudentsTalkPolitics The new press secretary only lasted one-half of a Scaramucci! That's savage, yo.

#StudentsTalkPolitics The @cato.org is a libertarian "think tank" / interest group (POLS 3351). They are on the "right" side of the political spectrum (POLS 2305) and analyze policy through a libertarian lens (small government). They are deathly serious about civil rights, yo.

#StudentsTalkPolitics We've been talking about public opinion in POLS 2305 this week. Our mantra has been, "Sometimes public opinion doesn't DRIVE public policy." In an example of where public opinion DID drive a policy choice, I present exhibit A:

I think Trump thinks he can ignore anything and do whatever he wants, but he isn't a king and needs to be reminded by that from our courts systems. #StudentsTalkPolitics @studentstalkpols.bsky.social

I agree. I think though some abuse and exploit that just to have parties and have women come over so that they can abuse them. It's horrific. #StudentsTalkPolitics @studentstalkpols.bsky.social

MIC DROP

Just behind #aewdynamite and #voteearly ? Oh, I am SO with that, yo.

When I say, "The heavy lifting of democracy happened BETWEEN elections," that is PRECISELY what I mean. And we all have a role to play in reckoning with our issues. We cannot shrink away from that hard work.

#StudentsTalkPolitics

Interesting how many will go to college just to not go to classes or study and just go party. They are going to times where you can't go or just need to take a break/nap but to go parties especially ones that can and will get you in trouble... 🫤

Trump sounds like a white supremacist when he speaks....oh wait.....

#StudentsTalkPolitics

I feel like this episode was a great example of how a lot of topics are connected together. Especially when it comes to immigration, the economy and the basis of our constitution. I hope the chaos dies down and America comes to terms with some of these issues.
#StudentsTalkPolitics

They don't understand the struggles that go around for immigrants in so many ways. Some can't even afford this lifestyle but work so hard to achieve the life for their future.
#StudentsTalkPolitics

No one should have to feel afraid or unwelcome in their own country because of their race and ethnicity. The US is supposed to be a melting pot where everyone can come together.

Immigrants were literally on America before it was even known as the United States. How could someone be so inconsiderate and closed minded about our country
#StudentsTalkPolitics

The fact that the birth rate is going down for the first time makes the topic of immigration so relevant in today’s current political world. It’s only a matter of time when we can’t rely on natural U.S population growth.

#StudentsTalkPolitics
It’s genuinely shocking how some people believe that immigrants are just handed homes, jobs, health insurance and other benefits the second they show up in the U.S, but yk like our president says, smart people hate him

No literally. He doesn't even understand how much they have done for this country. America is literally built on immigrants
#StudentsTalkPolitics

"And THAT is the Newshour for tonight."

Any final thoughts?
