The #SPR2026 Faces of the Future Flash Talks were a hit! Brief summaries of each talk are below
@therealspr.bsky.social
After an exciting talk regarding positive affect and internalizing symptoms happening at #SPR2026 I had a conversation with someone who said, “this just makes me question everything” and question everything we did! From savoring, desires to worry, discrimination training, and chronic stress, (1/2)
Cloze-ing out a day of symposia at #SPR2026 symposium "Using electrophysiology to study lifespan changes in inter-related language and memory mechanisms"! From Alfred Hitchcock to Harry Potter knowledge, it's fascinating to see how researchers study language development. @therealspr.bsky.social
Great talk at #SPR2026 on stress activity and inflammation in depression! Speakers demonstrated promising interventions with positive affect and inflammation, importance on perceived stress on inflammation for individuals with HIV, (1/2)
Enjoyed “The Deep Side of the Human Mind: Body–Brain Interactions Shape Cognition and Emotion”! Learning how breathing, physiological feedback, and heart & gut signals shape emotions sparked ideas for future interventions. #SPR2026 @therealspr.bsky.social
This is the 20th year of the Women in Science Education (WISE) Luncheon at the Society for Psychophysiological Research! Drs. Wendy Heller, Chris Larson, and Erin Hazlett served as panelists to reflect on the past & future of WISE at SPR! #SPR2026

Had so much fun presenting alongside @jeanieluo.bsky.social, @graceqmiao.bsky.social, and my co-chair Dr. Lilian Li, exploring how two brains connect and come into alignment across different social contexts! We each shared early findings from our projects - stay tuned for what's next!
So much to take away from Dr. Beatriz Luna’s #SPR2026 keynote! From neural timescales and aperiodic EEG to GABA/glutamate balance, intracortical myelination, dopamine, reward, and habitual behavior, the talk highlighted the many interacting changes shaping adolescent development.
Starting the morning off at #SPR2026 with a Big Idea Symposium: "Inferring Mechanism from Physiological Measures"! Some amazing work on understanding fear generalization, autonomic regulation, reward positivity, fear-biased attention and telomere length, and more. @therealspr.bsky.social
Symposium on frontal alpha asymmetry LIVE NOW! We have seen very interesting manipulations and novel findings on the moderating effects of mood and urgency on the FAA. Looking forward to the upcoming talks on rTMS and hd-tDCS studies investigating the role of dlPFC! #spr2026 @therealspr.bsky.social
Are social stimuli the best feedback stimuli?
Fantastic collaboration with @corinnalorenz.bsky.social and Nicola Ferdinand

At the #SPR2026 preconf workshop on dyadic synchrony, Dr. Nilam Ram walked us through how Claude helped him model dyadic data. We also shared about our apprehension about using AI in our own work. The future of the physio synchrony and AI in autism science is unexplored! @therealspr.bsky.social
Excited to attend #SPR2026 in Halifax! The opening reception and poster session is tonight, and I can't wait to see Maddie Carlson (Riddle Lab grad student) present her poster titled, "Cognitive control and reward learning interact to support goal-directed behavior" (#40)
@therealspr.bsky.social
A super informative workshop on applying mixed effects models to ERPs with Dr. MJ Heise! I learned a lot and am very excited to apply these methods to quantify single trial variability in my own data. Excited to see how they converge with our classic approaches.
Already enjoying my first time on the Canadian east coast. I’m excited for a few days of science! #SPR2026
Excited to chair a symposium at #SPR2026!
Accessible Psychophysiology in Autism brings together methodological innovations in EDA, dyadic ECG, and fMRI aimed at making study procedures more accessible to autistic folks, including nonspeaking autistic ppl
Hope to see you there!
Currently thinking about distinct visual pathways of threat retrieval in fear-conditioned faces (Symposium 1.3 on Thursday @therealspr.bsky.social #SPR2026 - see you there!)
🌟SPR Science Spotlight Saturday🌟 Shane McClafferty uses photoplethysmography, or PPG, to measure emotions in his research. Hear from Shane and other SPR members about their latest work at the #SPR2026 annual meeting next week in Halifax!
