A new preprint from my former PhD student Lila Colston-Nepali:
“Parallel differentiation extends beyond chromosomal inversions to small genomic islands on a background of rampant gene flow in the European flat oyster Ostrea edulis”

New preprint from the team #AdaptiveIntrogression #Haplotagging #PopGen #MarEvol
"Adaptive introgression in subdivided populations leaves distinct genomic footprints under global and local selection: a case study in Ciona intestinalis"

Heenkenda et al. inferred a population history of the rhesus macaque with substantial structure between Chinese and Indian populations, with a split time of ∼140k generations ago from an ancestral pop. of ∼65k individuals
My phone just autocorrected clade to Claude so if anyone in the #popgen community needs me I'll definitely not be pouring sugar into the concrete at data center build sites! Coz that's illegal, and I don't do illegal things!

Out now – my (very first!) Masters student’s (very first!) paper on #popgen of an endangered marsupial, the western ringtail possum (ngwayir in Noongar language). Using genomics of >400 possums, we found sig. spatial variation in genetic diversity, connectivity, and genomic vulnerability. (1/9)
This group is really useful to keep up to date with new papers in #PopGen and adjacent fields. ⏬️
🎓 Big day at the #UniversityofTartu #GI, as @kai-t2tte.bsky.social is defending her PhD.
Defenses r high-pressure, but she’s handling it with courage and focus.
Rooting for you, Kai—make us proud! 💪🇪🇪 #PhDDefense @unitartupress.bsky.social #researchineatonia #AcademicTwitter

Islands are amazing #biodiversity study systems. Here is our perspective on how they can be used as models for #conservation
Thanks to José and Maëva for their great leadership on this
The PopGen Vienna Seminar series schedule is ready for the next semester (Oct–Jan). It's jam-packed with fantastic speakers in #evolution, #genetics, #genomics, #popgen, and more! Details and streaming link signup can be found on our website www.popgen-vienna.at/news/seminars/
I'm hiring a bioinformatician! Review of applications starts October 1 with a start date as soon as possible. 🧪 #Genomics #popGen #CompBio northeastern.wd1.myworkdayjobs.com/careers/job/...
Disappointed by the lack of answers on Bluesky to this good question, any #PopGen colleagues willing to give an answer here?
