OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 15-Harley And Ivy:

"And when ya told me ya loved me too?
That's when I couldn't get enough of you!"

A squeal of delight erupting from twin-tails
Muffled by the squelches of a cop's entrails
Slathering themselves on the head of a hammer
Nailed by inappropriate sounds of cute laughter

"Harls, I don't know what about you is worse
Your desire to wear out the uniform of a nurse
Or your need to stomp on my jade universe?!"

A wriggling tendril from an overgrown bush
Briared and tired, quickly becoming but mush
Under the heel of a pale jester with a need
To suddenly jump back from the sunken seed

"IVES! OH, NO! THE LITTLE THING'S GONE LIMP!
WHADDA WE DO? IT'LL DIE! SHRIVEL LIKE A SHRIMP!
Oh...no...does this mean...you're gonna...skimp?"

Green skin holds no envy for the jester's foolish mistake
She knows it won't change the status of her leaf covered cake
For tonight, no touching, no bedroom action of any kind
It's all Harl's own fault, should have paid more mind

"Harls, it's not something to bother your cutie booty
I've got plant powers for a reason, you ditzy beauty
This little flower will heal up, good as new
But only if we climb up there for the view!"

For crazies aren't lazies, they climb up together
Above the entrails, to watch the blooming weather
Ivy holds the withered bristles of a mutated poppy
Harls plants the roots in the bobby's wet body

The night soon ends and the sun rises high
Schadenfreude memories, made from some dead guy.

*ASLEEP*

(Left [Aware]:) Waves carry me along at their pace

(Right [Unaware]:) I see nothing but endless space

(Left [Aware]:) Birds float atop my dwelling

(Right [Unaware]:) I hear nothing but bubbles swelling

(Left [Aware]:) 'Cracks' of thunder take apart the sky

(Right [Unaware]:) I feel nothing but a sigh

*SWITCH*

(Right [Aware]:) I see now the waves are growing

(Left [Unaware]:) The darkness here is overflowing

(Right [Aware]:) I hear now the birds are flying

(Left [Unaware]:) The bubbles here are multiplying

(Right [Aware]:) I feel now the thunder's brother

(Left [Unaware]:) The sighs here start to smother

*SWITCH*

(Left [Aware]:) Ship stays spinning under circling birds

(Right [Unaware]:) Should I stay under, ignore your words?

(Left [Aware]:) If you want them to catch you, feed their young

(Right [Unaware]:) The bubbles, frantic, like the sea has sung

(Left [Aware]:) Those 'cracks', those 'krakows', dangle overhead

(Right [Unaware]:) In other words, if I don't, we wind up dead

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 14-Orcas-2nd Slide:

*AWAKE*

Right, Left, Left, Right, Right, Left, Sight!
The vast sea has plenty of fishes tonight!
And yet, these sailors chose the predator as prey!
Mercy could be had, if they press their hands and pray!
Who wakes up an Orca in the middle of their sleep?
Don't they know that one half always lurks from the deep?

Black body, white patterns, on its belly and its face
Hailing from the fabled 'Ornicus' to offer up its grace
And as we see it jumping, from the starboard to the bow

A beauty steals the catch, from a crew that sought to wow.

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 13-Hot Springs-1st Slide:

Steam flies high, above an open roof
As droplets trickle, from an arm aloof

"The water's so nice, I could stay here all day!
What about you? Isn't it nice to get away?"

The arm falls and what's attached is a lady
Nude and free, just after having a baby
Holding her gaze on a nervous young girl
Her age is twenty, her head in a swirl

"I...don't really know...this is my first time
I...used to hide...when I was seen as a crime"

The lady who's free looks at the girl with a scowl
Seeing nothing wrong, she suspects something foul
The lady raises her arm from the water once more
Offering it in kindness to the girl clearly sore

"Whatever once was will no longer stand in your way
Won't you look into my eyes and have your own say?"

The young bundle of nerves is noticeably scared
They've come all alone and just about fared
For when love is offered in a watery basin
One would be rude to spoil the situation

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 13-Hot Springs-2nd Slide:

"Yes...I can...but don't look too close
I haven't...shaved...doesn't matter, I suppose"

The girl is embraced by the eyes of a stranger
With more care than her Mother offered the manger
The heat caresses the stresses wound tight
While a lady sees a girl, with unbiased sight

"Do you feel my acceptance of your truth as you are?
I had the honour of holding my newborn in a car
They wouldn't admit us, for one stupid reason
Viewing my husband as an act of pure treason
The other side hurts much the same as your soul
Different means to achieve one authentic goal
But what we remember, and you must do this too
Living to please others will bring sadness to you"

The girl cannot stop her emotions from stirring
Undoing her walls as the liquids are blurring
Eyebags and blots begin to heal in some spots
As the ripples settle and unravel the knots

"I will live as I am...as their heart rots."

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 11-Nature Watching:

"Wait, settle down, they won't appear!"

A group of children and a teacher in fear
Of missing out on the travelling deer
Not for the kids, but for herself to see
Antlers in a headlock, fighting to be

"The does are already gathered by the tree!"

The nature reserve has many obvious signs
'Don't feed the bears' or along those lines
Each one raised with text that shines

"Wait, listen now, there's a rustling bush!'

The children jump to the front in a rush
Almost knocking the teacher out with a push
Piling up to see the natural action before her
Second fiddle, next generation's chauffeur

"Their tails, so fluffy, I could pet them forever!"

The does are alert, they see the class there
Startled and still, they employ a death stare
The children are scared, the does don't care

"BACK, CHILDREN, THE BUCKS HAVE COME!"

A clumsy one, falling behind his chum!
Seven years young, beloved to some!
Thundering hooves approach the class!
Nothing can cause the anger to pass!

"MISS, PLEASE, IT HURTS...the grass..."

His ankle visibly twisted out of place
His teacher quickly picking up the pace
His body shielded by a smiling face

"Let your fears come to a halt"

The fence did nothing to stop their assault
The teacher was blamed, yet not at fault
The rules state that someone must pay
To make sure the kids play another day.

Tilling my scalp, releasing mattes
Counting hairs that fall from spats
Loud sounds blare in other rooms
No-one waiting, loneliness looms
Partial sadness, whole embrace
A heavy crown linked to a sullen face

Sizzling ends dragged from screeching roots
Curling into shape, satisfying coots
Paying hefty sums to eat their dinner out
Lowering themselves for a lady to shout
Obscenities that hold within them sheer truth
For a heart that's hurt by their lover aloof

Strands that won't sit where I want them to
Wait for messages passed while in the loo
With stories that could turn a policeman's head
Around in his car and back down to his bed
I hope, in the morning, he will hand it in
But he'll probably crush it, straight to the bin

Brush, brush, brush it all aside
Stop, stop, stop all that he's tried
Ring, ring, ring your family over
Scream, scream, scream before the clover
Rip, rip, rip grass from the soil

"Strip! Strip! Strip the clothes you spoil.'

"Two modes are expected by the buyer
But if we said that, we'd be the liar!
This baby comes pre-conditioned to turn
For times of sleep and times to learn!"

Crappy cameras and a bent green screen
An unpaid intern, scribbling to glean

"Just why should you buy our product over others?
Simple! You'll need nothing from our marketable brothers!
It helps you make the best of time, for all in your life!
Shadow puppets, early rises, unnecessary social strife!"

Slurping straws from an empty cup
Nibbling their topper, a grumpy pup

"Stars on the ceiling will glow and dim!
Imagination will fester, boredom grows slim!
Think of the worlds found between the shadows!
One, two, punch! That's the lazy option we expose!"

Yawning, stumbling, to turn the camera off
Ending recording with an unedited cough

The well dressed man with the unkempt hair
Walks to the intern, looking for a share

"Got any left? My throat's drier than the desert!"

Ice shakes loose, making light of his effort.

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 7-Fast And Furious:

'Dim your light', that's the way they always talk
But all my life I've had to fight, just to walk
While they drove backwards, stuck in reverse
I've ridden straight past their dead in a hearse

Burnt out tires rarely see much of the track
But they push the pedal down makin' up for what they lack
My white vest never gets caught in the axels
But his cross is tied around each of my shackles

Spinnin' wheels surround me, in the air and on the ground
Fizzin' for a chance to cease my success with the crowd
Romanticised women, souped up cars and endless booze
But there's only been one who had the balls to make me lose

Brian O'Conner, blonde hair, eyes blue
Smiles across his face like his lips tasted glue
Tight sweaty t-shirts and teeth sharply white
Letty forgive me, but I think he's alright

My words are not bullshit, his racing prowess
Knows no bounds on the track, techniques impress
Nitrous oxide flows through my blood and bones
When he overtakes all my foes and their drones

The cookouts are hard, when he cosies up to my sister
Lying in his lap, I wish he could try to resist her
I'd give him an extra sausage from the grill
And whoever says no...will know I can kill.

#OCTPOWRIMO2026 #octoberpoetrywritingmonth #teaEarlGreyhot #poetry #writer #iloveyouall

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 6-Tea, Earl Grey, Hot-[1st Slide]:

"Replicator, this is the fourth time now
Either get it right or I do solemnly vow-!"

Captain Jean Luc Picard, his experience decorated
Insulted by a food machine, every word irritated

*SHHHHT*

"Captain, there appears to be a problem with the ship
Reports from Decks 1 through 11 state there to be a rip-"

Lieutenant Commander Data, grey and put together
Wires behind eyes, his thoughts' primary tether

"Not now, Data, I have business to attend to
Respectfully, can it wait until my order is through?"

Data tilts his head, into a puzzled expression
He always thought the Captain would avoid aggression

"Query, Captain. What does seem to be the matter?
You appear undone by that which serves a digital platter"

The Captain looks, then looks away
Seemingly unable to make his gaze stay

"No, I'm not alright, Data, honestly, I'm not
I want my tea, Earl Grey, nice and hot!"

They both look straight at the Replicator
Housed in the wall, showing the word 'Elevator'

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 6-Tea, Earl Grey, Hot-[2nd Slide]:

"Captain, I do not mean to alarm you, but there is no Replicator in the Elevator shaft"
"I know that, Data, thank you, so why does it display it as if it is part of our craft?"

Then as soon as he asks, another walks in, holding a well dirtied jumper and a rubbish bin
"Captain, Lieutenant Commander, ye will wanna have a peek at this, we found it, half out, half in"
Miles O'Brien, Transporter Officer, doesn't just walk himself up the Bridge for a beer
He holds the reason, as the scanners come forth, acknowledging the loss of someone dear
"An ensign's uniform from Deck 7, Captain. This must be related to the reported rip in the wiring from Decks 1 through 11"
The Captain sharply stares into Data's calm eyes, dreading the link between his tea and this poor young boy sent to heaven

"We must go to the scene, where this child lost his life, to understand what can be done, to avoid further strife!"

Miles, Data and Picard arrive at the shaft to find it no longer responds to inputs, electrical charges, or manual override codes
Acting as if everything it once did is now entirely separate from what it does now, no longer an elevator, no up and down nodes

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 6-Tea, Earl Grey, Hot-[3rd Slide]:

Data interacts at a blitzing pace, overtaking any code that attempts to spit in his face
He continues, for minutes, then all of a sudden stops and looks, deep into the panel's screen
"Query, O'Brien. If the nodes are no longer present here, then what are the chances that we are pressing the inputs to a separate machine?"
O'Brien ponders this idea with a scoff, his work as a Transport Officer makes him laugh at the thought of inputs being misplaced
"Well, Mr.Data, there's a few wee problems if that is the case. If this is a Replicator's panel, then wherever it's makin' will be-"
"DISGRACED, MR.O'BRIEN, UTTERLY RUINED! GET BACK INTO MY READY ROOM! AT ONCE! MAKE IT SO! ENGAGE THE PROBLEM! NOW! AND FOREVER!"

They enter together, in a difficult bind, through the one door, in an attempt to sever
But the liquid is bundling up with the carpet, hot and cold mixed into Earl Grey flavour
A bit of chicken, a leg of lamb, a side of gravy and unmitigated behaviour

"This is my doing...my indulgent desire...Starfleet needs a report...and we, a funeral pyre."

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 5-Persistence:

Over and over and over, it turns
Cogs whirring as the machine learns
Synaptic accordance, repeated respondence
Correlating numbers accelerate despondence

It tells us to stop, hoist up our flags
Reams of white in brown paper bags
Lined and learned, notated in spades
Non-consensually fed under shades

Centimetres clamped at a centipede's pace
Ridges round the rinds of the race
To make something 'new' from that which is
Blatantly stolen, forcing emotion to fizz

The writing is hand, the words are thought
Mentally formed from framings sought
The parts are built, the codes ingrained
Fondled keys to leave hearts stained
Breaths of the passersby passed away
Condensed into smoke in a monstrous display
When lines run dry and the jacket too long
What is attached will have to be strong

'The Battle of Blood and Binary' beckons
Words will be uttered, delivered in sections
Cloud backups versus tangible hard copies

Someone will pull the plug on the bodies.

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 4-Outlaw-1st Slide:

Blackened fingers unraveling through rubble
Counting down tonight's toil and trouble
Tri-coloured wire encased in scarlet
Fastened and ready to blast a starlet

"The darn train's late!"
"Late?"
"AGAIN!"

A band of three brothers, coated and armed
Stand over train tracks and a maiden harmed
Ropes tied tight and wriggling in fright
Blindfolded and bound, no end in sight

The wire is wrapped, around her legs and arms
Ridiculing her attempts to work her charms

"Boys! Boys! Oh, dear little boys!
What would stop your explosive toys?
A kiss? A feel? A night to remember?"

"Your bony bits in the roaring ember!"

Laughs, chortles, chuckles from two
There's no way out, not even a view
To watch the train, its chimney pumps
Tall billows approaching smiley grumps

The wheels they are a-turnin'
*CHUGGA, CHUGGA, CHUGGA*
The coals they are a-shovelin'
*SCHLKK, SCHLKK, SCHLKK*
The guns they are a-cockin'
*CH-CH, CH-CH, CH-CH*

"GET TO THE BOX AND SEND THAT WIRE CRACKLIN'!"

OCTPOWRIMO 2026-Number 4-Outlaw-2nd Slide:

One of the three runs faster than ever
While the other two stand, ready to sever
Their fleeting connection to the maiden bound
On the...train track...nowhere to be found?

"Boys, boys, dear little boys!
How could you think I wouldn't make noise?
You wrap poorly, you wouldn't hide a present
NOW COOK NICE AND CRISPY LIKE A PRIME CUT OF PHEASANT!"

"The box!"
"The box?"
"IT'S NOT BY THE ROCKS!"

She holds it, handling the lever like a glass
Drunk on power, she pulls a gun from her ass
A secret compartment, dirtied by her roll
Enticing the box towards her devilish soul

The maiden stands proud, conducting the situation
As the tickets are punched before the station
There's people on board, the wire is live

Outsmarted, outfoxed, one will survive.

Morsels left by bellies filled
Talons tackle, leaving them spilled!

Above the rooves, the world is large
Smoking stacks and a travelling barge
Each eye spies the sailor's hat
In the battle for custody, gifting a splat!

White marks speckled with leftover food
Trickling down in a manner crude
Human skin recoiling with every touch
Of an avian clan that left too much!

In a stolen hat, crumbs are served
In the willows withered and often curved.

"Did you see it? I swear, this time it moved!"

Two girls huddled in front of a painted fence

"Yeah, sure, it scooched, it maybe even grooved!"

A bucket sits, innards used as a colourful expense

"There's so much uncovered, did we do a bad job?"

Sections of the wood clearly lack brown

"Nah, the wind'll do it, just sit like a slob!"

The mites race from their destiny to drown

"Hey, they're ugly, and they're trying to get away!"

The girls keep watching, not moving an inch

"No chance, they won't make it, the paint's in play!"

On the girls' word, bodies trapped, start to flinch

"Ha-ha! Squirming, little bugs! Stupid things!"

Entirely drenched, inside maws, paint clings

"Take it all, drink it up! No-one will save you!"

Two girls enjoy death by the morning dew.

Overplayed tunes
Cushioned lazies
Unwashed spoons

Something snaps in half, in the back
A bony sound, no different than a crack

Tired tears, howled loudly in remorse
A shattered plate, ivory and coarse

The dinner is served, for the lowly mouse
It takes its time, as a guest in the house
And invites its friend, a hobbled louse

Streams continue to topple rosy smiles
Slathering damply onto weathered tiles

An old home, an old way
Routine lies broken, shifting today

And as old as the rest, a shaky voice quivers;

"Remember me...as the bank...to your rivers..."

A sunken chair, as the message delivers.
