#Northantsbirds Didn't envisage getting a soaking as we walked past Town Lake Thrapston today, but sheltering from the rain allowed me to grill c60 LbbGull, with at least 3 ad YL Gull among them. The drake RN Duck still on Heronry Lake, also cc Marsh Harrier, Dunlin, Goldeneye and 3-4 Stonechat🙂

#Northantsbirds A short visit to Pitsford today, ostensibly to tick the Slavonian Grebe, but also hoping for a second-coming of the American Wigeon (no joy there, but great fun scanning through the wildfowl anyway!). Hoped the cold wind would bring something in, and it delivered 2 ad Whooper Swans🙂

Feeling cooler today with a fresh N wind. This Whooper Swan at Clifford Hill GP was one of several that appeared locally, also present were a YL Gull, Dunlin, Ringed Plover and a small flock of Redwings flew through. #Northantsbirds

#Northantsbirds New Workings again this evening, a surprise Whimbrel heard calling twice as it flew over unseen was the highlight, closely followed by the returning Glossy Ibis. 4 Pintail, 3 Green Sand, 120+ Teal, and several each of Shoveler and Wigeon. At least 5 Gt Egret too.

#Northantsbirds No luck with the Glossy Ibis at Summerleys this evening, but great views of 2 cc Marsh Harriers, with this much brighter bird posing nicely on Gull Island. On Marys Lake, this probable 2CY Caspian Gull was among a mix of other larids. Couldn't find yesterdays Garganey.

#Northantsbirds Hadn't been to Summerleys for a while, so pleasantly surprised by the number of ducks present, with 150+ Wigeon, plus 30-odd each of Gadwall and Shoveler. Careful checking (hoping for Bw Teal or Am Wigeon🙂) and came across a Garganey, good reward for being thorough with them ducks😉.

20 Skylark as well.
Just waiting for the rare pipit or Lap bunting 🙄

#Northantsbirds A trudge around Thrapston GP and Titchmarsh LNR this morning, with a Cattle Egret straight off the bat on Islip Water Meadow being the highlight (also 21 Egyptian Geese, personal record count, incl. the psychotic-looking leucistic bird!); Titchmarsh quiet, very few duck, zero waders.

#Northantsbirds Peek-a-boo! With no sign of the Osprey, this Barn Owl was the highlight at NW South this evening (2nd Barn Owl briefly as well); also present, 2 Pintail, several Snipe, 4 Green Sand, 3-4 Gt Egret, several each of Wigeon and Shoveler, 12+ Little Egret.

Just added Jay to my ‘birds that flew over my house, but I wasn’t in the garden to ✔️it ‘list.
Also got Whimbrel and Brambling on there.🤦🏻‍♂️

Dunlin & Ringed Plover at Hollowell Reservoir earlier this week. A mixed group here for several weeks now, sometimes all together, but usually in two separate parties; maximum counts 7 of the former and a notable 22 of the latter. #northantsbirds #waders
