Would you rather is such a great routine to get students thinking and sharing about mathematical relationships.
Which trip would you take and why?

One of the most important influences on my math education career is Cathy Fosnot.
I read and watched her stuff early in my dive into younger grades and it made such an impact. I still quote you Cathy! Thanks for amazing, ground breaking work.

One of the topics in our current Stanford #mathCircle is #FermiEstimating. I love how this 2nd grader described estimating the leaves on a tree. #mtbos #iteachmath #mathisfun #mathiseverywhere
Does it differ by grade band (i.e. ES teachers are more resistant to the "role play" part than MS/HS teachers? Or the math feels "too easy" when it's grade 2 or below?)?
Does it differ by experience level of the teachers involved? Veteran vs novice vs mixed?

I've been puzzling through some pushback about model lessons in PD. How to tread the line between teachers feeling condescended to or patronized by the experience vs finding it a meaningful and useful experience to understand how the lesson is structured and how students might experience it.
Highly recommend giving the #NCTMDEN26 start pack a follow! Look forward to connecting with other math folks in Denver. #mtbos

Would you rather is such a great routine to get students debating using math.
For this scenario, is the amount of pay the same?
Either way, which sounds like a better deal?
Bad news: a lot of us are stuck teaching math as if it wasn't math.
Good news: we now know how to fix that.
🚨 FINAL CALL for K–5 educators! Don’t miss your chance to join Graham Fletcher at ICTM this fall and strengthen how you build number sense with students.

Our district is transitioning from PC laptops to Chromebook Pluses for staff. While their are some benefits, one major drawback for math teachers is the lack of an equation editor in Google Slides. I know there are add-ons, but none seem great and are $$$ Any recommendations? #iTeachMath #MTBoS
