The 15th of #mechtober headlines Robert Charrette, without whom BattleTech's Draconis Combine would probably have been consigned to "Eternal Other Peril" status for a lot longer than it was. Having read his earlier stuff recently (and thus knowing more about JP history in general), I appreciate...

So today for #Mechtober is @michaelastackpole.bsky.social day! Now I could show/start with the Warrior Trilogy (which I love btw), instead I thought I’d show this. I wasn’t much of a reader as a kid and I only got into books as a 20-something. I wanted these since I first saw them…

Day 15 of #mechtober and it's Robert Charrette. While Wolves on the Border is heaped with praise(and rightfully so), personally, I LOVE Heir to the Dragon. As a kid obsessed with the IJN(I'm weird, I know), a book all about BattleTech's samurai faction was too good to pass up & it did not disappoint

My two copies of Heir to the Dragon. I found the first in a used bookstore back when I was a kid and I was over the moon because I couldn't find a newer copy at my local Waldenbooks(ask your grandparents, kids). It served me faithfully for over 30 years until I finally had to replace it as the cover had nearly separated the spine was following quickly. If you can get a copy, in whatever condition, I cannot recommend it enough, especially if your interested in House Kurita or the Draconis Combine in general.

#MechTober 15 - Robert N. Charrette

Wolves on the Border tells the story of Wolf’s Dragoons time with the Draconis Combine and the friendship between Jaime Wolf and Minobu Tetsuhara. Like yesterday’s highlight, it is great for showcasing the complexity of BattleTech’s factions.

Wolves on the Border by Robert N. Charrette. The cover has a Dragon BattleMech firing its weapons.

#mechtober today is for Robert Charrette! He wrote my 2 favorite Battletech novels, Wolves on the Border and Heir of the Dragon. Currently enjoying Wolf Pack.

How he writes characters and battles is really great. Reminds me of Shogun in a lot of ways but with giant robots & spaceships! Yes!!!!

10/15 - Robert Charette!
One from my collection I haven't gotten to yet - but the Kuritan perspective B-plots in the Warrior trilogy show such a cool and weirdly different side to the story, plus I heard the HATAMOTO-CHI IS INVOLVED? Sign me up!

Day Fifteen of #mechtober #battletech and fifth day of Author Week is Robert N. Charrette who had a big impact on the early stages of the universe. Both Wolves on the Border and Heir to the Dragon being such a counter point to the other early authors in style and content.

#Mechtober 15 Robert N. Charrette wrote probably my most favorite #Battletech novel, Wolves on the Border. This really introduced us to Wolf's Dragoons, and also one of the best characters, though tragic, Minobu Tetsuhara. The story helps setup

Okay, another #mechtober, introducing Mechwarrior Jimothy. There's really only one name you can give the Howler, in this case the Howler 2 with a bunch of ATMs. Jimothy is still a somewhat credible backstab threat, or an initiative sink and denier of hexes.

It's day 14 of #mechtober and it's Bryan Young! An outstanding author, Voidbreaker was the first BattleTech novel I read after a decade-long hiatus and it was both a great read as well as excellent introduction into the ilClan era. Currently reading through his Ghost Bear series, enjoying it so far

The cover art of Voidbreaker showing a helmeted figure in freefall on a cloudy, moonlit night. A falling BattleMech can be seen in the upper right hand corner, as well as a dropship, partially obscured by the BattleTech logo.

Kit Fox- Kell Hounds

#Mechtober, October 14 is for author @swankmotron.com

I originally chose to paint this Kit Fox as a Kell Hounds mech since its the mech that Katie Ferraro found in the story 'The Secret Fox'.

Thoughts?

#MechTober 14 - Bryan Young

Bryan has written a lot for BattleTech including the Fox Patrol, Jiyi’s Jade Falcons, the Ghost Dogs, the Dominion civil war, and covering how Clan Sea Fox starts to repair the HPGs. As a starting point, I recommend A Question of Survival.

A Question of Survival by Bryan Young. The cover art has a Gyrfalcon fighting an Ursus II.

Day Fourteen of #mechtober #battletech and fourth day of Author Week is @swankmotron.com Bryan Young. Much fiction from both Inner Sphere and Clan perspectives in the current setting. What is not to love about the Fox Patrol and Ghost Dogs and getting me to care about the Jade Falcons was unexpected
