Alpha Strike: I really want to like it, but the standard dice rolls are something I highly dislike as well as the sheets(cards). To me, it loses its individuality for each mech and that hinders me. That being said, I love playing it with my kids!

Today’s #mechtober subject is Randall bills , the guy who kept the ip alive on his shoulders for so long . Founding of the clans is perhaps some of the heaviest and deepest material ever written for battletech and everyone should give it a shot. It’s pulling back the curtain on the games history .

Well I’ve left it to day 3 of #Mechtober , but I figured this is the best point to do all my Battletech games.
I got into Battletech back in the 90’s; my sister’s BF of the time got me into it when he introduced me to the 3025TR and Mechwarrior book, we even sat there and built a 2 regiment merc…

Day3 #mechtober oh, how I'd love to have a tactical, round based Battletech game with state-of-the-art graphics and storyline. With multiple DLCs set in various timelines. As good as #mechwarrior 5 is, it's more arcade than a realistic combat simulator (still love it, brilliant game)

One of my first experiences with BattleTech was playing MechWarrior 2, and enjoying the kind of tinkering you could do with the machines. I returned to it many years later with "BattleTech" by @webeharebrained.bsky.social and enjoyed something more tactical.

For yesterday's #Mechtober 7th, the Northwind Highlanders have been a favorite of mine from our shared Scottish heritage.

Highlander Gambit is one of my favorite novels; & the Highlander Burial inspires so many DFAs!! #Battletech

Alpha Strike is great because I field so many more units, and units I wouldn't field in Classic. I like the speed of play, true LOS, terrain, plus how it plays like a traditional wargame.
And let's not forget ACES, where I can play solo!

10/2 - Alpha Strike Gameplay!
This week started Aces Scouring Sands! I'm an AS novice still, but the Aces campaign system has us excited - only did the simulator mission so far (10/10 VP btw, to humble brag). The groupchat is now in deep deliberation building our merc company😂

4th day of #mechtober Can't say too much about the SLDF as I've never spent too much time learning about them. That being said, Randall N. Bill's trilogy, 'Founding of the clans' helped a lot understanding the SLDF and General Kerensky, at least in their last moments in the IS. #battletech
