Nice to spot this juvenile kingfisher in the Middlesex Filter Beds this morning.
Lovely light this morning in Victoria Park.
The two female kingfishers were regularly chasing each other around.
Catch of the day

Exploring the lake.
Over the course of the past week have been seeing the adult female in new spots across west lake in Victoria Park.
Bingo!
Had been hoping the kingfisher would land in this tree with it's autumnal leaves, and just as I was leaving Victoria Park this morning I checked, and there she was.
After a trip recent trip to Spurn I was pleased to be back on patch at RSPB Rainham Marshes today. 2 London ticks in the form of Glossy Ibis and Pectoral Sandpiper, which eventually showed decently! #londonbirds
Sprucing themselves up.
One of the Hackney juvenile kingfishers on the River Lea.
Sutton Peregrines. Both adult males were sitting quite close to each other this morning, the older one briefly leaving to engage with a couple of Crows but returning to the same spot on the corner. The 2025 male has quite a full crop too! #londonbirds
Always get a little nervous when I take friends on a walk to see the kingfishers that we will not see one.
I need not have worried yesterday as this juvenile sat for quite some time down on the River Lea as we stood watching it.

After seeing two kingfishers chasing each other again in Victoria Park this morning I found the second bird.
Hoping they both hang around over the autumn and into winter.
Autumn vibes
As the leaves change colour, the kingfisher starts to almost blend in with them.
Look at that lipstick
The whole of her lower bill is orange, indicating not only is she is a female, but is quite a mature bird.
She was quite comfortable with me standing just a few metres away.

The princess of the park
The view of this female kingfisher in Victoria Park might have been obscured a little by leaves and branches, but she was still just a few metres away. What a wonderful feeling it is to get this close.
