Just the 4th Eared Grebe in our care over the last decade, this juvenile was found unwilling to walk and with an eye injury in the middle of the road. We're happy to share that it continues to recover, and we look forward to its return to the wild.

Baths will continue until morale improves. Did you see Tuesday's post about this Great Horned Owl caught in a glue trap? It's doing well after multiple baths, but there's still a ways to go. We're being playful, but glue traps are no laughing matter. Just ask this owl.

🦉 Found unable to fly in Roseville, CA, this Great Horned Owl came into our care covered in glue-trap adhesive. Removing it takes many baths and time. Will it be back in the wild by Halloween? 🎃 We hope so! Please ditch glue traps and choose humane alternatives. We'll share updates!

Meet a recent patient, a Western Bluebird! These birds, common to our area, are “secondary cavity nesters,” meaning they use cavities created by primary cavity nesters like woodpeckers, then make their own additions. Quite the clever strategy!
