Three frames from a focus sequence: head, forelegs, shell. Spotmatic Magic 1.2.0 stacks the full sequence, 10 or 20 frames, into one sharp macro, now with full-precision DT-CWT and optical-flow refinement.

@naturaelapides.bsky.socialA touch of blue for the BlueSkynauts with this beautiful lazurite – not to be confused with lazulite, my favourite mineral. The Mindat page on the mineral’s definition is quite amusing!
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialFor this #MineralMonday, a specimen of andradite featuring beautiful trapezohedral twinned crystals with a matt metallic sheen that would certainly appeal to a car tuning enthusiast.
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialI’m currently photographing a specimen of andradite, and a small pocket containing three interlocking milky quartz crystals has caught my eye – so here’s a quick snap for you!
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialHere is a photo of rabejacite, a uranium phosphate named after a place I used to hang out near my old home in Montpellier, France. I bought in Béziers, which is yet another reason to connect this mineral to my own personal life—I love it when that happens.
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialFor this #MineralMonday, I’m continuing to celebrate Quartz’s victory at #MinCup26, and to photograph the quartz specimens in the collection.
Here is a prase flower, a leek-green variety of quartz, with its characteristic slender crystals.
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialA second photo of the specimen, where the effect is visible on a larger number of cubes, which are, even so, quite weathered. I wonder how long this specimen had been lying about in the seller’s pockets.
But you don’t look a gift horse in the mouth
@naturaelapides.bsky.socialA quick snap of a small yellow fluorite given to me by a dealer; it’s not in very good condition, but it has a lovely violet radiation colouration on the terminal faces of the cubes.
@timbeyan.bsky.socialThe surprisingly photogenic snails enjoying some early morning light.
@thebrownstuff.bsky.socialA lacewing in the hallway.
Both images are handheld focus stacks with the OM-1 II and 90mm Macro. The closer view was shot with flash, revealing remarkable detail in the compound eye.

@naturaelapides.bsky.socialLet's not forget that it's Monday, as the final contestants in #MinCup26 face off in nerve-wracking do-or-die showdowns.
For this #MineralMonday, here's a yellow specimen of Uranocircite, a uranium-barium phosphate with a striking yellow color.

@naturaelapides.bsky.socialIt’s #MineralMonday, by the way.
Far from the hustle and bustle of the #MinCup26 (vote for Putnisite), here’s a creamy, yellow and delicate specimen of Cocoinoite, a hydrated uranium phosphate that you’d be wise not to lick!
