Identifying worn coins can be tricky, especially the denomination. If you find one with two pellets behind the shape of a bust, it is likely a halfgroat, like this one of Queen Elizabeth. #FindsFriday finds.org.uk/pas/recorded...

For #FindsFriday an exciting new discovery in Flanders - the first single find of an early dirham from Belgium. Identified by experts as North African, possibly a contemporary imitation, 173-175 H./789-790 AD. Most likely brought here from Frisia/ Denmark.

The 982g phiale is embossed with acorns, beechnuts, bees and lotus flowers. Its inscription may name Damarchos, son of Achyris – or the magistrate Achyris – and records gold and probably the bowl's weight. Now at Himera's museum. #AncientBlueSky #archaeology #FindsFriday

Two wine strainers and a trulleus from the 1st Century CE Kingston Deverill hoard in Salisbury Museum. The spouts on the wine strainers looked very familiar to me as I painted something similar from the Chettle hoard back in 2008. Local maker, possibly?
