Another #FallPoem. Wrote this when Jack Kerouac was literally my neighbor. (Lived in South #LowellMA steps from #EdsonCemetery.) Thinking about it cause I again just missed the Lowell Celebrates #Kerouac October festival. I live in and love #TroyNY now, but I love and miss #Lowell.

“A Voided Tree”

At least the ground
can start to heal
at last from the
nurturing
it long gave.

Remember that
this winter when
you’re burning what
this ground was
nurturing.

Short poem for my favorite month. Written when I was living in #LowellMA. Not sure if it’s actually finished or not,
so I’ll just leave it like this here. #AutumnPoem #FallPoem #FragmentFriday #FragmentsFriday

“October rain”

All day scraping
the mustard leaves,
spreading them on
the cobblestones.

Happy first morning of Fall! Here’s a fall poem I wrote four years ago after driving through Andover after dropping my wife off at work.

From my chapbook “Beyond the Spaghettiville Bridge”… still inexplicably available from @alienbuddhapress.bsky.social

“Hit and run”

I’d been told that
an oak tree leaf
caught mid-spin from
breaking earthward

from its oak tree
in fall brought the
one stopping to
catch it fortune.

Judging how on
one-thirty-three
that beater smacked
one Thursday, sent

it staggering
then sprawling, then
sped off, no one
told the driver.
