On being Opaque (or: transparency)

#pluralsky #DIDsky

First panel of comic.
Drawing of Puzzle, a 3D puzzle of a lynx, having taking a piece out from it's chest to hold out to the viewer.

"I used to be transparent, eager to explain how I was put together and how I worked.
Being known was a comfort, and understanding was safety."

Second comic panel.
Opaque, the rabbit jar, reaches up to the single ear that has a cork. It's in shadow.

"I'm not like that anymore. I don't want people to know what's going on inside.
Opening up freaks me out."

Last panel.
A cork lays on the ground.

"Sometimes me and the old host blur, and those inhibitions leave. I start feeling like I can admit to anything.
I hate those moments more than words can say."

An introduction to Opaque, Puzzle, and generally what I'm drawing comics about.

#pluralsky #DID #OSDD #DIDsky

First comic panel. Drawing of Opaque, a mint green simple shape rabbit character with the texture of a jar. One ear is replaced with a corked spigot, and there's a jar lid on the top of the head.

"This little character is Opaque. You could call it a rabbit jar; you could also call it a vessel.
It's kind of meant to represent my (green) individual experience with our collective reality as someone with DID."

Second panel. Opaque, close to the camera, leans its head forward to show the uncorked spigot and empty hole where the lid usually rests. Small dark hands lift up out of these holes to wave.

"I don't really want to talk about or represent specific alters.
I don't think you need to know them to understand how their existence affects me (green) as an individual."

Drawing meant to mimick the first panel, but Puzzle stands where Opaque was. Puzzle is a yellow semi-translucent 3D puzzle of a lynx, again in simple shapes.

"Puzzle is another collective sona, meant to represent how I lived pre-2019.
(It's a lynx, meant to look like one of those 3D crystal puzzles)
My system structure, switch schedules, lifestyle, and living conditions were all different then,
to the point that it feels like an entirely different life. I'm still coming to terms with the disconnect."

Last comic panel.
"The same alters that made up Puzzle also make up me.
So why do we feel so different?
Why are we not the person we spent over 2 decades learning to understand,
and who does that make this 'us' instead?

That's a lot of what I'm processing here.
Also maybe some other stuff.
idk."

At the bottom, there's a small doodle of Opaque giving a thumbs up.

OUR THERAPIST SAID ⬅ I have to assume this is their expression under their mask.

All alters need to be onboard with therapy.

BUT SOME OF US ARE STILL HAVING TROUBLE WITH THIS THOUGH

ABSOLUTELY NOT.

STOP TALKING!

I don't trust her... but IT'S JUST OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AND OVER AGAIN!

WHICH IS MAKING THERAPY MORE DIFFICULT

BUT WE CAN'T BE MAD ABOUT IT ANYMORE. ⬅ Lying

she said she was sorry...

BUT WE ARE WORKING ON IT

Note: the data is old because it was transferred from SimplyPlural and the SimplyPlural data was transferred from PluralKit.

Orion and Maíra sit by the computer.
Orion: "Alright, time to update out PluralSpace* info."
Maíra: "Oof some of these haven't been updated in- SIX YEARS?"
"*PluralSpace: A tracking and documentation tool made for those under the plural umbrella."
Orion: "Check out Millie's. It still has stuff from years ago-"
Millie's sexuality is marked as straight.
Orion and Maíra look at each other.

Nyann (singlet) and three Pumpkin Patch alters are snuggled in bed.
Shanon is trying to read a book, Millie is trying to watch a video on Nyann's laptop, Aspen is trying to sleep.

Happy #B12 deficiency awareness day!

To celebrate, we have reanimated two shots from the show American Dad, which we have never watched.
