Had to stop in to @stjohnsdixiechurch.bsky.social this morning to check on some things for Sunday and Chester came with me.

Before #DailyChester there was Daisy. 15 yrs ago we used to dog-sit this beautiful sheepdog named Daisy, who belonged to one of James’ colleagues. Daisy passed away in 2012 but my love for her remained. When we were thinking of a dog of our own I said “like Daisy…but a bit smaller”. Enter Chester.

We call this Chester’s “Oliver” look. After hoovering down his breakfast or dinner, he will look up at you from his empty bowl and you can almost hear a Cockey accented “Please sir, I want some more.”

The most entitled, spoiled and therefore comtented member of this family has to be our dog, Chester.

Every pillow and piece of furniture is his.
Everything revolves around him.
We don’t move, lest we disturb him.

And we wouldn’t have it any other way. 🐶🥰

So a dog I have followed for years on Instagram died a couple of weeks ago and I just found out today.

I was literally sitting on the bed, staring at my phone crying.

Chester jumped on the bed, put a paw on my arm and licked my face.

If I’m working all afternoon and evening, I don’t need to be in the office first thing in the morning.

Whenever I take #DailyChester to the car, we go outside so that he can pee and then we take a staircase down to the parking garage. Chester walks these stairs a half dozen times a week, but he always stops halfway down and resists going.

I’ve explained he’s not a Romanov and need not fear basements
