🧠🛡️ That’s a wrap on #CRSy26! See you next year

🧠🛡️ That’s a wrap on #CRSy26! See you next year
🏆🎉 Celebrating the best posters and talk at #CRSy26! Congratulations to all our prize winners! 👏
🎤 The final keynote of #CRSy26 came from Erica Sloan, @monashuniversity.bsky.social, who explored how the nervous system influences cancer progression, including how nerve signalling can promote the spread of cancer and affect responses to treatment.
🔬 Can disrupting communication between nerves and immune cells help fight cancer? Karen Dixon, from EPFL, explored how researchers can identify and interfere with neuro-immune circuits involved in cancer, potentially opening new avenues for treatment. #CRSy26
🛡️ Can we harness the immune system’s own cells to fight cancer?
Bruno Silva-Santos, from @gimminstitute.bsky.social, explored the potential of gamma delta (γδ) T cells, a specialised type of immune cell, as a tool for developing new cancer immunotherapies. #CRSy26
🛡️ The third and final day of #CRSy26 has kicked off with a keynote by Florent Ginhoux, from the Fondation Gustave Roussy, exploring the diversity of macrophages, immune cells that can play very different roles within tumours, and how understanding these differences could help us fight cancer.
☕💬 From lively Q&A sessions to conversations over coffee, #CRSy26 has been as much about connecting with fellow scientists as sharing the latest research. Welcome to the last day!
📊 After another lively poster session, the day ended with our Meet the Expert activity in the Tropical Garden 🌴🍹, bringing the #CRSy26 attendees and speakers together for informal chats and a chance to connect with peers.
🍹💬 Researchers gathered for our Meet the Speaker session, a chance to chat with #CRSy26 speakers and exchange ideas at our Tropical Garden 🌴
📊 All those hours in the lab, and now it's time to share the results! Another afternoon of lively discussions and exchanging ideas at the #CRSy26 poster session. 👥💬
🧠🛡️ Day 2 of the #CRSy26 kicked off with a keynote by Susan Kaech, @alleninstitute.org, about “T Cells on My Mind and in My Mind”. Kaech’s research explores how T cells form long-lasting immune memories and why these same cells can lose their ability to fight cancer.
🧬 Why can #cancer spread to one organ but remain dormant in another?
@alpcorreia.bsky.social, from the @champalimaudf.bsky.social, explored how the #immune environment of different organs influences whether cancer cells remain dormant or develop into metastatic tumours. #CRSy26
🧠🛡️ Chega ao fim o primeiro dia do Champalimaud Research Symposium 2026! #CRSy26
Sob o tema “Neural and Immune Codes in Cancer”, investigadores de todo o mundo exploraram as complexas interações entre o #sistemanervoso, as #célulasimunitárias e o #cancro.
🧠🛡️ That’s a wrap on Day 1 of the Champalimaud Research Symposium 2026! #CRSy26
Under the theme “Neural and Immune Codes in Cancer”, researchers from around the world explored the complex interactions between the #nervoussystem, #immunecells and #cancer.
📊 Time to share some science! Researchers presented their latest projects and exchanged ideas during this afternoon’s first poster session at #CRSy26 💬
🫁🧠 Can nerves help lung cancer evade the immune system?
@leanneli.bsky.social @crick.ac.uk showed how lung tumours activate nearby sensory nerves, triggering the release of a molecule called CGRP that interferes with the formation of immune-cell structures that help fight cancer.
#CRSy26
🎤 #CRSy26 opened with remarks from Leonor Beleza, President of @champalimaudf.bsky.social, and symposium co-chairs Henrique Veiga-Fernandes and Carlos Minutti.
🔬 Cancer is more than a disease of tumour cells. Nerves, immune cells and signals from elsewhere in the body can all influence how tumours grow, spread and respond to treatment.
Over the next three days, #CRSy26 will explore these connections and what they could mean for cancer therapy
🚀 The Champalimaud Research Symposium 2026 (#CRSy26) has just kicked off in Lisbon! 🧠🛡️ Under the theme “Neural and Immune Codes in Cancer”, researchers from around the world are gathering to explore how the nervous and immune systems interact with cancer.
