You can explain your trauma better than your therapist can. And you still freeze at the exact same moment.

Insight isn't integration. Your brain predicts what it already knows, so it keeps handing you the same life.

Many trauma survivors have extraordinary "discipline"—we molded & twisted ourselves in many ways just to survive.

We've learned to turn every single part of being human into a test of discipline. Healing is mostly replacing self-control with self-compassion & self-trust. ❤️‍🩹

I have a strong feeling that when things finally calm down, there will be so many people struggling with CPTSD. So many people will be collectively, traumatized by the injustice around us that we will need to rethink mental health for the future.

It really did.

2026 really said:

Let me break your heart, expose the people who were never really in your corner, strip away everything familiar, and burn down the life you didn't even realize needed to be rebuilt so you can rise from the ashes.

Getting things done, but feeling totally shut down inside?
This could be functional freeze. When life feels unsafe, your nervous system can go into hibernation mode.

Learning this has been hard. My #trauma brain screams in opposition. But it's true. I deserve #love and compassion. I always did.

You deserve the love you keep trying to give everyone else
@gardenlobster.bsky.socialOct 14, 2026, 8:32 PM

Practicing this lately. #Healing #CPTSD really is about getting the amygdala to chill out and the prefrontal cortex to come back online.

#complexPTSD #complextrauma #babysteps #doingthework #healingjourney

Every time you replace "this is overwhelming" with "what's the first step?" you shift your brain activity from your amygdala (fear) to your prefrontal cortex (problem-solving).

That's neuroplasticity in real time.
@gardenlobster.bsky.socialOct 14, 2026, 4:06 PM

I'm longer interested in what strangers & unsafe people think of me. Going forward, I'm doing the next right thing for me. I'm finally putting my needs first, and I need to heal this brain injury.

#CPTSD #complextrauma #complexPTSD #recovery #healing #healingjourney #doingthework #babysteps

If we're going to meaningfully recover from trauma, we're going to have to be ok with being misunderstood & misrepresented.

There are people who are not interested in truly seeing us or meeting us where we are - & we have to let that have nothing to do with our recovery.

Cannot recommend @drdoylesays.bsky.social highly enough for anyone trying to recover from trauma. His posts on bluesky are a great daily tool. And now there’s this. And it’s free.

I've walked away from a lot of #shame by working on #self-abandonment and self worth. It feels lighter. I'm much less depressed. The constant self hatred has stopped.

#CPTSD #recovery #healing #healingjourney #babysteps #doingthework #depression #mentalhealth #selfworth #selflove #selfacceptance

1. Shame for something that was done to you
2. Shame about someone else's actions
3. Shame due to stigma or prejudice
4. Shame resulting from someone else's judgment
5. Shame for having different values than someone
6. Shame because you said no or set a boundary
7. Shame that was passed down to you by family
8. Shame about your emotions or needs
9. Shame for struggling or needing support
10. Shame that's conditioned from early life
