Northern broken-dash, Polites/ Wallengrenia egeremet and bumblebee on buttonbush flowers, Cephalanthus occidentalis. There's some discrepancy about its exact genus and species. The caterpillars feed on panicgrasses, Panicum sp. The adults prefer white, pink, or purple flowers.

As winter nears there are fewer insects to observe. A warm say this week meant a sluggish tufted globetail let me take some photos. They serve double duty, pollinating and eating aphids!
