#Bugtober 2026: Day 11 - Cryptid

The issue with being a mimic species working with the species that you’re (unintentionally) mimicking is that you accidentally become the local cryptid.

They’re facing away from the viewer, happily getting ready to pick a book from a bookshelf. Offscreen, the generic bee continues with, “I don’t know… They’re weird though!” The third panel is a larger one and shows Apollyon as a silhouette against a dark purple background. They’re now looking at the viewer over their shoulder with a thin pupil. The fluffier parts of their neck rough are sharper than they would normally be, and overall Apollyon is shown far more ominously than they actually appear to be. Several text boxes from the other bee are placed around Apollyon saying, “They’re too tall-“ “They don’t look like a bee-“ “They don’t smell like a bee…” “What if they’re here to hurt us?!” The fourth panel has Clover with an unamused expression as they look at the other bee. She tries to tell the other bee, “I literally had to save them from a seedling yesterday. However, the other bee angrily cuts her off by yelling, “They’re still weird!”

#Bugtober Day 9: Chill

Drew some enemy concepts if there was a tundra/cold climate area in Bug Fables. From bottom to top they are based off of Wooly Bear Caterpillars, the Antarctic Midge, and the Wolf Spider.

At the top of the page is a large spider, with markings on it's back and a icy blue mane of "fur" between it's head and body, making it more wolf-like. Then closer to the bottom is a large midge, colored teal with icy blue eyes and a darker blue underbelly and thorax(?) at the bottom is a smaller, furry, caterpillar like creature, the fur on it's face is icy blue and the rest of it's fur is a darker, but still cold, blue.

Quick doodle of an idea that popped into my head. Metal Lake is the only area in Bug Fables without a Seedling, so i drew one. The Floatling, based off of Liferings, Marimo, and Bladder Kelp, they float on the water thanks to ring of algae around it's neck
