Willow and Astarion embrace in formal clothing inside a bedroom. The implication is that it is his bedroom, because it looks elegant. Willow and Astarion kiss on top of a bed in the same scene as the other photo. It is gentle and romantic. “I’m sorry, Astarion, for everything,” she says, quieting herself as she stares into his eyes. “I’m sorry for whatever I thought going into this. If you don’t hate me, I promise to take this seriously, and to really, really try with you.” Silence. Unlike the Elfsong, there is no bustling undercurrent of noise, or cat snoring in a corner when Astarion stares back at her, his face unreadable. There is only the sound of Willow’s own pulse, banging much too loudly within her head as she waits for his response.

He— do you remember how you cried? The way he belittled you? I certainly remember, considering how loud all of it was." "I do," Willow whispers, suddenly staring down into the woodgrain of the table, rather than Shadowheart's piercing green eyes. All of the embarrassed redness disappears from her face, suddenly replaced with a heavy dread, deep in the pit of her stomach.
