I used a lighter touch to edit "Rowan Corner". Just added shadows with black oil pastels to the railings and tree trunk at front. Then lighter black lines tracing some branches. A few extra red pops on the berries. ##AmPainting #Trees ๐Ÿ’ ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ–Œ

Acrylic painting depicts a Rowan tree with bunches of red berries above metal railings with a few lime green shrubs beyond. The paint is mostly light washes with a blue sky, purple branches & yellow green leaves. Darker shadows on railings and tree trunk stand out at bottom of picture.

This morning I was editing paintings. After last week's transparent washes, I used opaque paint to bring up deeper tones. Also oil pastels for final detailing, like extra pop of orange-red on marigolds. I rather like the frilly purple-reds of Lollo Rossi lettuce at front. ๐Ÿฅฌ ๐ŸŽจ ๐Ÿ–Œ #AmPainting

"Autumn Salad Border" is a garden scene in acrylic paints. Soft washes of pink & orange for back wall & sprawling borage & marigold plants. A blue flower pot on a cane and orange-red marigold flowers draw the eye in mid-distance. At front spinach and red lettuce plants are more vibrant in thicker paint with oil pastels details. Purple & blue shadows ground these green and red plants.

Today we were exploring relaxed painting in Art Class, using technique of Wet on Wet with acrylics. First splashes of water, then dabbing colour into it. Both "Autumn Border" & "Rowan Corner" are awaiting further contrasts & added definition. ๐Ÿ–ผ ๐Ÿ‚ ๐ŸŽจ ๐ŸŒณ ๐Ÿ–Œ #AmPainting #Trees #AutumnColour

"Autumn Border" has spinach & red lettuce leaves in foreground with patches of blue borage flowers & orange marigolds & a pink pot of bedding plants. All picked out in splashy dabs of blue, pink, orange & green against hazy red brick wall behind."Rowan Corner" shows a mature rowan tree with bunches of scarlet berries & green leaves against a blue sky. Purple branches & trunk and two lime-green shrubs beneath with a metal fence in front. All is lightly sketched in transparent washes with some more vivid details on top.

Finished my painting of Begonias in Art Class today. Aiming for contrasts of muted vs vibrant colours and geometric vs organic shapes. I do like that these rows of pots and tins look like decorative panels containing the flowers at the centre. ๐ŸŽจ ๐Ÿ–Œ ๐ŸŒบ #AmPainting

A sprawl of Begonias in vibrant reds & oranges with thick, frilly leaves. The corners of the painting show rows of stacked tins, crockery & terracotta pots in more muted blues & lilacs.

Rarely say this, but pleased with this piece, it is giving me smoking packet warning vibes though.

What is the purpose of #art? Pablo Picasso had a pretty good answer. Do you cleanse your #soul regularly by #creating or enjoying #artwork? #ampainting #amdrawing #amwriting #amplayingmusic #amdancing #amacting

This square design has a background of vivid reds, oranges, yellows, and violets created via an aquamedia wet-into-wet technique. In the center is a translucent pale circle that overlays the background. On the circle in large black letters it says, โ€œโ€™The purpose of Art is washing the dust of daily life off our souls.โ€™ โ€“ Pablo Picasso.โ€ Under that in smaller letters, it says, โ€œjennawebbart.com.โ€ This quote can be found online at https://www.jennawebbart.com/blog/2019/8/7artquotes

Have you experienced this effect when youโ€™re making #art? Thereโ€™s a #spiritual element to #artwork that is hard to define. But itโ€™s a powerful force. #amdrawing #ampainting

On a square background of wet-into-wet watercolor in hues of rose, yellow, gold, violet, and pink, a lighter circle encloses the words, โ€œArt enables us to find ourselves and lose ourselves at the same time. โ€“ Thomas Merton / jennawebbart.com.โ€
