I didn’t watch the games because I just need a break 🤣 but Kashiwa Reysol & Vissel Kobe did what they needed to do today against teams they are supposed to beat. #ACLElite

@royjvdxb.bsky.social21 shots, 65% possession, and defeat.
Azmoun scored twice in 16 minutes as Shabab Al Ahli beat Al-Ittihad 2-1 in Jeddah. Ríos pulled one back, but the comeback fell short.
@royjvdxb.bsky.socialIn April, Al Sadd knocked Al Hilal out on penalties after a 3-3 thriller.
This time, Watkins and Neves sealed a 2-0 Al Hilal win in Doha.
Al Hilal: 6 points. Al Sadd: 0.
@royjvdxb.bsky.socialGamba Osaka rallied to beat Newcastle Jets 3-1.
JDT won 2-0 at Pohang; Kashima stayed perfect. Kyoto and Beijing also won.
All six East Region results:

@ryanevans47.bsky.socialAlmost a banana skin for Kyoto Sanga but they pulled out the 1-0 win vs Ratchaburi FC of Thailand. Ratchaburi made it difficult but a gorgeous ball by Haruki Arai to Temma Matsuda for the goal sealed the 1-0 win. Ren Kato was stretched off. Hope for the best. #ACLElite
@ryanevans47.bsky.socialPohang Steelers just couldn’t find that final ball. Even going down to 10 men they really put up a good showing but did lose 0-2 to Johor Darul Ta’zim who for them were not really on there game. When not playing at home they are beatable but they had enough today. #ACLElite
@ryanevans47.bsky.socialI did think at first that Max Burgess may have been fouled leading up to that 2nd goal by Deniz Hummet but VAR cleared it. Newcastle finding it tough so far but despite the score, I do think they can build off this because they did look a lot better today. #ACLElite
@ryanevans47.bsky.socialNewcastle Jets played very well despite the 1-3 scoreline but Gamba Osaka just has way too much quality. A big deflection off the strike of Vergos led gave the Jets the 1-0 lead but then Gamba scored 3 unanswered & a dazzler by Welton that sealed it. #ACLElite 1/2
@jaldaric.bsky.social#NewcastleJets getting frustrated and tired late in the game. Had their chances that weren't converted and conceded 2.
Lack of matches showing again
@jaldaric.bsky.socialNo love lost between Wilmering and Adams
@jaldaric.bsky.socialNo pen, play on
@jaldaric.bsky.socialBrave effort from Dobson to play on
@jaldaric.bsky.socialA far better 1sr half in game 2. That said, #NewcastleJets were down 5-0 to Kashima so being 1-1 with Gamba Osaka is a vast improvement.
Defence looks far more settled though we're still letting the opposition dictate the game far too much.
@jaldaric.bsky.socialNot looking good for Dobson. Best case is a dislocated shoulder
@jaldaric.bsky.socialVERGOS! Bit of luck there but they all count!
@jaldaric.bsky.socialNice foray up the pitch
