The sense that my sense is moving with the background music and her tone. Even tho it’s without imagery or videos but It still feels like after watching an opera or musical. It’s so immersive with those sound and singing. #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes

There really isn’t a moment where I stopped and trying to understand because I can understand in both ways as a Chinese who speak English and understand both language. But I do find it interesting that something used to be considered weird can be shown in such creative way. #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
i felt was confusion and felt like an outsider for not truly listening to what is being said #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
my question is, why did Yingelishi create a story that has many different things going on at once. there’s not a connecting sorry going on #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
the way you say things may be interpreted as something else. the way certain words got dragged on gave it more exaggeration #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
for media it showed me how even though i don’t fully understand what is going on, it still has meaning #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
while listening after the first couple of minutes i stopped trying to understand after i didn’t quite get what was being said #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
And what’s cool about it is that depending on a person they hear different things. if a person speaks Chinese they hear Chinese sentences and stories, and if you are an English speaker you hear English sounds!! I think yingelishi is for people to make their own meaning #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
I feel like this video made me realize how important listening is, and how sometimes you just need to detach your curiosity and brain to fully grasp what is being said. this video showed me how tiny the bringer is between languages and sounds #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
#hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes The background noise was annoying at first but then I thought to myself how much it is actually important to this video. it was showcasing the emotions connected to the situation (Like phone calls or customs). it was used as kind of translation.
I’m just a curious person, it’s sometimes hard to turn it off😂 but I just let my body react to what I’m listening, and it was a roller coaster, sometimes I felt relaxed and sleepy listening to it, and sometimes my brain was going crazy because it was too overstimulated #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
#hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes I really enjoyed the yingelishi video. at first I really tried focusing on understanding the content of what they are trying to say; however later on I decided to just relax close my eyes and enjoy it. I sometimes peeped my eyes to see what it mean!
I want to have my queston answered on why she choose to put both translations on the board #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
Pondering on the why made me understand how easily your own culture and language can alter your listening experience. It may seem obvious but then you start to see it in different parts of your life #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
My idea of translation was always direct translations and mistranslations. To combine phonetics that create a sound heard in both is absurd but it reveals certain truths #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
I tried to really understand why the author gave us the translations. I want to know the experience the author was trying to create #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
Yingelishi made me engage and have to listen to the words being spoken. I was presented with two meanings that couldn't be more different #hwa4 #whatlisteningmakes
I wonder how Stalling began creating these poems and the methodology he used.
Like did he start with English phrases and find Chinese characters that fit, or the other way around?
Stalling really is a W human
For future SMEs, I'd like to play around with how people might interpret the same sounds, words, or visuals differently.
I never thought about using misunderstandings as a creative piece. But Yingelishi opens my eyes.
I was also wondering how much I was missing by simply not knowing Chinese.
I'm sure there were some meanings and feelings lost through translation that I can't fully appreciate.
