Hard to find a clean cut. Wiki say it's 30' but can only find a 27'30" cut.
What's great is that much like the Radio show never advertising who is playing TLR so five men are all hinted at being TLR and which one actor it is isn't shown in the opening credits.

I appreciate this serial defines everything but I'm unsure if this "sticks" as it were.
The villain in this is a major villain in that he runs Texas treasury. We even get a scene with President Lincoln. So this has scope in the way a standard Radio ep can't.

The first time?
The Lone Ranger is said to be a former Texas Ranger whose comrades were ambush and murdered. Tonto rescued him and nursed him back to health.
No Silver origin given.
Also we get a year: 1865.

As ever the first ep of a Republic serial has a lot of money spent on it and recycles large scale footage from prior big Westerns.
It nails down a lot of stuff that I think has not been decided in TLR to date?

The villain was hidden ok but his scheme needed a lot of luck, eg: the last stagecoach missed the poison. Also surely a Doctor would work out it was all poisonings and work backwards?

Is the TLR is an outlaw or not? I think no or at least not as deliberate as #TheGreenHornet is.

This ep ends in a bit of a hurry but I do like that the TLR doesn't pre-explain his scheme to the listener.

TLR gets the information to solve the crime too easily. In the novels we see that leg work but on Radio it's assumed he's been sneaking about?
From this ep I guess we don't yet he was a Texas Ranger?

Again the plot has enough movement to engage adults.
Is Markheim a semi-regular? Does he work with the Lone Ranger? Does it reduced the Lone Ranger's mystery if he's involved with law enforcement even indirectly?

The Willam Tell Overture really ends an ep well.

This seems to be a finale so were the adventures serialised over 2 or more eps? This is the Wednesday ep so it's not a case that one story was told Mon, Wed, Fri?
