#soundstudy 7:40 listening to her without any image made me hear the background noises more, which I didn’t like especially the silverware sounds. I have no idea why but hearing it always made my body ache

@piwonskiemil.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 10:13 PM

#Soundstudy I had my eyes closed the entire time. I think that helped me not think about what is being said, but actually see how the sounds affect me

#soundstudy Even after taking apart some of this voice memo, I have to admit that I still don't really know what is going on here and what is really happening within the "restaurant"

@maddyc15.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 12:08 PM

#soundstudy I think there were parts of the audio where there were either patterns or things said that didn't quite make sense to me, but having read The Medium is the Massage I went back and tried to decode what that might have meant

#soundstudy The sudden sounds at 7:59 kind of unsettled me because it sounds as if a tragedy had occurred and this was the sound of people reacting to it. I think the lack of image made me more aware of the alarming tone of the crowd, especially the chaotic noise that followed it

Tweet 3: Im just still sitting here and really wondering what is that so called "Knickerbocker glory" she was waiting for and that finally arrived. And why when it arrived everything broke into total chaos. #soundstudy

Tweet 2: This audio made my brain start trying ot make false connections between things that have nothing in correlation with eachother. Like it felt so obscure but so similar at the same time. #soundstudy

Tweet 1: at 7:59 the intensity rises as the voice gets louder and the violin screeches and all of a sudden I hear screaming and chaos in the background. I think visuals would've madae it more intense, but without them i focused on tiny auditory cues i most likely wouldnt have noticed. #soundstudy

One technique i would steal is the layering of sounds, music and other background sounds instead of just describing ice cream. #soundstudy

@gracetawfik.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 1:44 AM

If I am being completely honest it made me pay attention because I felt like I was going to miss something if i was attentive to the audio. #soundstudy

@gracetawfik.bsky.socialSep 17, 2026, 1:41 AM

One moment that surprised me was the sudden screaming and shouting because everything seemed so peaceful and calm. It was almost like the screams came out of nowhere because even after it was peaceful and normal. #soundstudy

@samanthalavender.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 9:55 PM

is there a visual out there I could watch, maybe even compare the two? I lowkey would watch the whole thing. It is very interesting how the sounds could do so much with just listening #soundstudy

@samanthalavender.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 9:53 PM

I wouldn't have noticed how "lively" the podcast sounds with the birds, the chatter, the beeping of cars, the police sirens in the background. #soundstudy

@samanthalavender.bsky.socialSep 16, 2026, 9:48 PM

timestamp at 8m when the music suddenly gets loud as if you got out of a restaurant and into the busy streets of the city. It wouldn't have hit as much if there were images because I wouldn't notice the loud noise but the amount of people around.

I'm picturing the scene in my head #soundstudy

At the end when her voice is on a loop replaying “fleeting, fizzing, fragments” it reminded me about the concept of fragmentation and how we try to focus on so many different things at once. #soundstudy

@pickleball07.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 10:48 PM

Now that I read TMITM, I was really focusing on what the audio means and how it actually contributes to the story instead of just mindlessly listening and waiting for her to speak. #soundstudy

@pickleball07.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 10:24 PM

A timestamp that surprised me was 8:08, when children started to scream with excitement and the soundtrack of waves begin. Because it had no images I feel like the transition between when she got the knickerbocker and when she told us she was at the seaside felt more real. #soundstudy

@pickleball07.bsky.socialSep 15, 2026, 10:10 PM

The sound of the music and kids screaming with excitement was so random, but it definitely adds a lot to the mood and how excited the author really is. #soundstudy #knickerbocker

Tweet 3: I'm just overall confused by the narrator more than anything. I thought she went from talking about ice cream to a restaurant to the beach and it's waves. Although it kind of made sense given the background noise and music, the story she was telling made zero sense to me.

Tweet 2: The best way to describe it is the audio made me think. Think of what birds and restaurants and saxophones have in correlation. WHY did it all feel so random and not something I can listen to on the side of doing something else.
