Here’s a photo of a smart looking Greenfinch. They were regular visitors to our garden when I was a boy but sadly we only see them occasionally now.

A Greenfinch looks left while perching on a tree branch. It has green plumage with a bright yellow bar on its wings and tail. There are branches in the background of the photo which crisscross.

A Tufted duck in silhouette, paddling away from the shore at sunset. The bird is in the centre of the shot, paddling away from camera with its head turned back to the camera over its left shoulder. Its reflection can be seen in the water behind it. The setting sunlight on the water gives off a metallic gold/bronze effect. In the foreground are vertical reed stems, also in silhouette, coming up a quarter of the frame on the right and about halfway on the left. A Linnet perched on the top of a bramble bush in the sunshine. The bird is left of centre of frame, its right side is visible and its beak is open in song. The bramble takes up the bottom third of the shot, mostly fresh green leaves and shoots with the occasional old white branch or fresh flower buds throughout. The bird has a grey head and red forehead with a bright red chest. It has a brown back and wings, which turn to black with a white stripe at the end. Its underbelly is pale with brown streaks. The bright morning sunshine is shining from the right and casting a warm light on the bird and the brambles. The background is of an out of focus field of grass and is a uniform green throughout.
