Atlantic Birding's pretending to be Helen's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #ShoreBirds

Audouin's gull is primarily a fish eater, and pretty much restricted to mostly rocky shores, though I see it hunting on beaches as well.

Head portrait of an Audouin's gull (Ichthyaetus audouinii). With about 10.000 pairs it has recovered quite a bit, though still classified as vulnerable, as one of the greatest colonies have declined massively. In the late 1960s, this was one of the world's rarest gulls, with a population of only 1,000 pairs.
