For years, the inhabitants of Phantomile always knew there to be four spirits: The Tree Spirit, Water Spirit, Wind Spirit, and Light Spirit. Through the power of these spirits, everyone lived in peace and harmony, going about their days without ever having to worry. Thanks to the Light Spirit, the only visions the inhabitants experienced in their sleep were pleasant dreams, all of their hopes fulfilled with smiles on their faces. However, there was one inhabitant that despised that joyful status quo: a mischievous clown that found joy in havoc and pain. When one thought of dreams, one would have thought of clear skies, sunny days, and spending time with close friends, never having to worry about any possible dangers that may be lingering in their mind. But for Joka, these dangers were exactly the sorts of visions in his sleep that he would call "dreams". He loved the darkness that engulfed the sky, the refreshing sounds of tears as fearful civilians trembled, and the delicious smells of smoke that invaded his lungs. This was what he considered to be his glorious fantasy. The rest of Phantomile would shun him for these "dreams". What reason would they have to accept him? To any other normal being, these would be nightmares. These were the sorts of dreams that would wake you up in a cold sweat, your heart pounding out of your chest. Joka, however, didn't care. He didn't need anyone's approval. His dreams were the only joy he needed. "What's the purpose of light when it creates no shadow?" The clown would exclaim. "Have you ever heard of 'light puppets'? I certainly haven't!"I'll be the first to admit in this zine, soup has never really been my first option when it comes to food. I would barely even call it a meal. Normally I would go for a big juicy burger, a large paper bag full of tacos, a bucket of chicken, or a thoroughly seasoned steak to satisfy my small but demanding stomach. Soup, on the other hand, is mostly liquid. Sometimes there's a few chunks of meat, sometimes there's a few scoops of cream, but for the most part, you’re lapping up water with a spoon or trying to scoop up all of the sludge possible to maintain the fleeting taste. It doesn't take long to drink up the majority of the soup without getting much chance to chew down on it. It sits in a metal can or dry in a cardboard box in the back of the dark closet, for months, possibly years on end before being picked out to be cooked. It's simply a side dish, not the main course. I know, what kind of person am I to be writing so negatively about soup in a zine all about soup for National Soup Month? And yet, despite my scathing thoughts and constant disinterest towards this undervalued dish, soup is more forgiving than I am and was always there for me when I needed it most. Zucchini soup and tomato soup taught me how to cook my first basic recipes as a kid. Chicken noodle soup kept me warm and toasty during the coldest times of the year and comforted me when I was ill, even if it worked for only a short amount of time. Ramen was always ready for me when nothing else was prepared after a long day of work or school, where I was too drained to be able to make anything else. One day I recall in particular, I had a terrible argument with my mom the night before and felt as though I had no one who could understand what I was going through.At a first glance, you may not think too much of a gaming platform like Roblox. Both the millions of games found on the website as well as the avatars that represent the countless amount of players that join every day appear as though they were designed to be LEGO playsets or building blocks for daycare centers. Kids especially are supposedly mindlessly playing the various games on Roblox via their phones, tablets, or school laptops. However, it’s due to this accessibility and simple look that Roblox maintains that helps open endless possibilities for new creators and developers to come up with their own content, whether through game or video creation. One of the greatest things about Roblox is how little space the game requires to run on any device, only requiring 1 GB of memory. Even a game like Minecraft needs at least twice the amount of memory Roblox needs to run, thus allowing for anyone to play the vast amount of games on Roblox to their heart’s content. Especially in the world of speedrunning, it can be difficult to get involved in these kinds of communities due to the various system requirements needed to capture everything effectively. Prices for computers are high and some games only run on consoles, thus needing a separate capture card or a complicated camera setup. That’s not even taking into consideration all of the online co-op games out there that can potentially overcomplicate the rules or negatively affect a run for a first-time speedrunner. With Roblox being free and accessible to practically everyone, any aspiring speedrunner can test their skills themselves in any game of their choosing and learn to navigate the submission process. They can experiment with recording software,It still all felt so surreal. Even after several weeks, Dia Nova was struggling to adjust to the world of Neo-Mobius. From the moment she had exited her ship after crash-landing onto the planet, everything had been a whirlwind. She made a lot of new friends, discovered a few things about herself, even saved the world from its most dangerous villain, and that was just the first day! To top it all off, she somehow made a connection with a Chaos Pillar, unlocking one of Neo Mobius's most ancient legends. She had never felt more grateful than when Amy offered her a place to stay that night…and every night after. Since her ship had been too damaged from the crash to fly, Dia was stranded on the planet and would have to wait for Tails to finish repairing it before she could continue on her mission. At least helping Amy with her diner had helped pass the time, but it didn't stop Dia from feeling out of place. She always felt a wave of anxiety wash over her whenever she thought about her home. When the gang offered to take Dia with them on a fun beach vacation, she jumped at the opportunity to take her mind off of everything. Enjoying the sun and the waves, she appreciated the much-needed reprieve from her thoughts. Rejuvenated and revitalized, Dia returned ready to take on whatever the next chapter in this journey had in store for her. Sonic gathers the six light sticks and puts them in a bag for Dia to carry as they walk to Tails’s workshop. "It'd probably be best if while you're looking for a new energy source, you hold on to these. I think we'll be alright without them. If anything, it would just give ol' egghead a reason to keep coming back and bothering us." Dia nods uneasily, "I just hope he doesn't start to follow me once he finds out that you don't have them anymore." "Knowing him, probably. But when he causes any trouble, we're always there," Sonic snickers. The two arrive at the workshop to find Tails standing next to Dia's ship, looking completely stumped.
