#LGBTQWriteAThon 10: I've missed a couple of days but will pick up here

I think its been a decent week! In total I think I've written 1000 words for Fire on the Horizon & made some progress with overarching narrative ideas. I also managed to write a little for my zine *AND* maybeee a short story 👀

I had an unexpected short story writing excursion that I'm not sure what to do with, but I'm otherwise still prepping for a November write-a-thon. Otherwise, a pretty busy week with real life stuff!

#lgbtqwriteathon writing itself is a bit slow but i've been coming up with coming up with ideas and solving puzzles before i write them i never really do any planning but this book is different from the others! the characters are risky. all of them lol so i have to get it right.

I'm near enough to the end of this project that I can actually make the deadline!

I was locking up, but on a whim I broke up all the tasks for the day, put them on an internet wheel, and whatever it landed on, that's what I did.

This week I made a video unpacking the Writing of Complicated Books! At first I thought "I bet I could come up with 10 or 20 points," then I suffered self-doubt "What if I only have 4 ideas?," then I rattled off 100 on camera.

This week was huge because The Colors That Haunt Us released on October 8!
Most of my energy went into that, my b-day, and getting used to the book being out in the world.
I did some planning too, but “published a book” absolutely counts as this week’s progress.

Well. I wrote every day and fiddled with the first 5 scenes but I’m still not terribly happy with them. I think I need to head back to the drawing board and figure out what exactly I’m trying to do with this story. Kill those darlings I already wrote and make some new ones.

I'm a bit behind schedule. Horror short will be out Monday. Gotta get back to polishing/taking a hacksaw to WIP 2. For now I'm enjoying my town's Oktoberfest. :]

My laptop has been out of commission for the whole week, and I'm only getting it back tomorrow (😭😭), so I haven't written or edited anything. What I have done is drawn a bunch, I've drawn a rough sketch of my next book cover, a bunch of personal art, and character concept art 🙂‍↕️

I finished drafting one unexpected novella, planned to get back to the chaos gremlins, and then promptly stayed up until the small hours last night writing 8k to a new random story that still has no idea what it's going to be. :sigh: yay?

This was a pretty good week! Got a ton done on my WIP, and I’m settling in wonderfully at the new gig.

Hoping next week is also good!

Ended up rewriting chapter 7 of Forest's Champion a little bit because i was not vibing with the OG draft. Its better but still not there yet

all quiet on the writing front this week, but I think I achieved my goal of "survive" 🫠 even if I have lost hearing in one ear (temporarily, I hope!)

Finished the scene I was working on, though I think I need to change something. Letting my brain sit a bit to be sure.

Started on the emotional climax. I hate this chapter. I can't edit it without crying 😭

#LGBTQWriteAThon I am burnt out. There's been a lot of annoying problems regarding book fulfillment this week and a lot of the time I felt like I needed to be in two places at once.

But, I'm hitting deadlines.

Currently waiting to see if Zon screws me on books I need before the 23rd.

I got through this round of major structural revisions!

It felt amazing for approximately one second until I realized the amount of work I still have to do on smoothing things over, fleshing out scenes, and then making it actually good 😅
