The Batman: The Animated Series episode "Heart of Ice" debuted on this day (Sept. 7) in 1992. A genuine classic written by Paul Dini and directed by Bruce Timm, this brilliant tale tragically redefined Mr. Freeze as a scientist seeking revenge for a past wrong! #BatmanTAS #Batman

The Batman: The Animated Series episode "On Leather Wings" debuted on this day (Sept. 6) in 1992. Premiering on Fox Sunday in prime-time, the first episode of the cartoon to do so, this beautifully animated tale finds Batman going toe-to-toe with the Man-Bat! #BatmanTAS #Batman

Batman The Animated Series debuted 34 years ago today and quickly became one of the biggest influences on my art style. #batman #batmantheanimatedseries #foxkids #harleyquinn #batmantas

#Batman The Animated Series premiered 34 years ago today! What's your favorite episode? #BatmanTAS #BatmanTheAnimatedSeries

It is a fantastically dark tale on the trappings of fame with some awesome set pieces, such as the attack on Hagan, Batman chasing Bell in the Bat-Wing before taking him for one hell of an interrogation/trip through Gotham & a brilliantly animated & literal face-changing finale

FEAT OF CLAY

Without doubt, one of the most perfectly cast episodes of the series with Ron Perlman brilliantly taking centre stage as an actor forced onto unsafe & unsavoury measures to maintain his stardom

Measures which are horrifically turned against him by the men he works for

#BatmanTAS

William Windom is perfect as Ethan Clark, but although actor & singer
Michael Des Barres is great as con man Carl Fowler, he is bloody awful as Nostromos, possessing no legitimacy whatsoever, how anyone was fooled by his obviously fraudulent act is unbelievable

#BatmanTAS

When Bruce goes undercover, there's no mystery of whether he's been fooled because he points out it's a sham from the start & makes his intentions known to Alfred, even when everyone else appears shocked by Nostromos psychic prowess, he's breaking the fourth wall trying not to laugh.

#BatmanTAS

Sequences that should be thrilling are ruined by uneven animation & unnecessary close-ups accentuating the feeling it's some kind of joke at our expense
There's a fight at the end that starts off brilliantly, shot in semi-silhouette only for the lights to be turned on & ruin the mood.

#BatmanTAS

The Night to Remember/Poseidon Adventure opening is clearly meant to be a tragic disaster, but plays out like a comedy sketch
It randomly cuts from a shot of passengers running round a stairwell clearly inspired by Oscar Reutersvärd's Penrose Steps to a shocked goldfish being washed away

PROPHECY OF DOOM

This is a weird one because although it contains all the elements for an interesting one-off adventure, it is completely ruined by its execution.

Part of the problem is that it was animated by AKOM Studios, who were simply ill-equiped to fully understand the brief

The Batman: The Animated Series episode "The Cat and The Claw, Part 1" debuted on this day (Sept. 5) in 1992. The first episode to air, viewers were introduced to Kevin Conroy's pitch-perfect Batman as The Dark Knight met Catwoman for the first time! #BatmanTAS #Batman #OnThisDay

BAT'EMBER 1: Batman TAS !

Comme pour beaucoup, le dessin animé de Paul Dini et Bruce Timm fut ma porte d'entrée à l'univers du chevalier noir!

Peut être une des meilleures adaptation du chevalier noir.
