In my most recent novel, I wrote in a non-linear format, so my subplots provided drips and dribbles that were needed at key moments throughout the various timelines. #WriteStuff

Who am I? I'm the coyote that digs in your trash bin for uneaten pizza crusts. Why am I here? Look coyotes can seek self actualization through literature too. (also my therapist told me I should leave the roadrunner alone)

Well, Kevin is good at digging into the topic, so you should have a few ideas in the next hour. #WriteStuff

I noticed with TRAILER TRASH ZOMBIES (my WIP) I haven't developed my subplots & I need to know how to do that without taking away from the main plot. I guess I weave as I go since I don't know what else to do. I also don't know how far to take a subplot. I want it to enhance the story.

#WriteStuff A2 Have you ever read a book with so many subplots that you couldn't keep track?

A1: I write everything as I go, subplots, main plots, etc. My subplots weave into the main story, so I have to make sure they are showing up at the right point to make sure they make sense witht he bigger story. #WriteStuff

I like to write A, B, and C plots kinda in a similar way as to how it is done in sitcoms. That requires a lot of careful planning, and it gives me a chance to give the reader a break from Enya's toil and hardship to read about her kids doing comedic mischief or something.

#WriteStuff Q1 I weave as I go, then plot the subplots to completion in editing, and then write in the missing bits.

Hi, Pam! Glad to see you here again.

I hadn't thought much of subplots until I saw tonight's topic. I haven't developed them at all and I think I need to. They'll only enhance the main plot if I do it right.

#WriteStuff A1 Pretty much to completion. Sometimes I'll do an early pacing to make sure I'm not devoting too much weight to side action.

These are good question! #WriteStuff

Hi Trish!

#WriteStuff Q1 When you write, do you write each subplot to completeion, then weave? Or weave as you go?

#WriteStuff I'm Trish Wilson. I write horror. I want to know how to develop subplots without distracting from the main plot. I don't want to go down a rabbit hole and lose readers. I have three possible subplots in my WIP.

Hello #WriteStuff! I'm Pam (a novelist and blogger) and I'm here bc @kww.bsky.social is there for us!

It's time! Tonight on #WriteStuff we'll discuss subplots. But first ... who are you? Why are you here?
