Good morning. #yyjpoli Committee of the Whole for September 24 kicks off with Mayor Alto providing a land acknowledgment.

She also congratulations Councillor Jackie Albany for her re-election to Songhees Nation Council.

In terms of reduction in *per capita* emissions:
- Oak Bay had a 17% reduction from 2007 to 2022.
- Saanich: 28% reduction from 2007 to 2023.
- Victoria: 41% reduction from 2007 to 2023.

😬

I think we can do better. #yyjpoli

Let’s talk climate change and get nerdy about CO2 emissions for a minute!

Since 2007, BC municipalities have been required to calculate and report their annual CO2 emissions. So let’s look at the data for Oak Bay and our two neighbouring municipalities, shall we? #yyjpoli

1/2 Good grief. Stephen Andrew has discovered how to create and post AI images on Facebook. I suspect that he and I are both boomers and I'm embarrassed. He should know better.

Heads up that if you ask Sustainable Victoria Network about their endorsement of Wendy Bowkett, they’ll just block you from their Facebook page lol #yyjpoli

Climate Justice Victoria is one of many groups that are collaborating on the Livable CRD scorecard. Check out the responses for your municipality! #yyj #yyjpoli

I’m not going to complain about the provincial election happening at the same time as the municipal elections … but now that I’ve watched the full press conference I can’t say I’m impressed by how Eby dodged questions about the overlap not once, not twice, but three times. #bcpoli #yyjpoli

Here’s my press release on there being a provincial election during our municipal election:

Uggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. #yyj #yyjpoli

OB Council Candidate Roxanne Helme tells the Oak Bay News she has "no agenda" but then lays out that a big reason she is running for Oak Bay Council to oppose Bill 44 because it would 'change the complexion' of OB.

This person is a trained lawyer? #yyjpoli #oakbaybc

borrowing someone’s list of ‘rational candidates’ I saw on reddit because I think they summed up most of the progressive options for Victoria council, personally I’d add Susan Kim to the list too #yyjpoli

I’m closing in on 500 doors knocked in #OakBayBC. Look for me in your street! #yyjpoli

This is what cruise ship garbage looks like. Alaskan 7 day cruises stop on their way back to Seattle to drop off their garbage. That's right folks, Victoria has a zero waste plan at the same time we accept tons of U.S. garbage generated on 330 cruise ships. Pictured list in alt text. #yyj #yyjpoli

This is what some of it looks like. Oily rags, cooking oil, hard plastic, metal, assorted barrels with unknown contents,"ASH", "INTERNATIONAL WASTE", "GLASS" and/or "CRUSHED GLASS", "SOLID WASTE," "Contaminated plastic," "CASTROL" Read the alt text to see the list. #yyjpoli #yyj #zerowastevictoria
