The still-abundant devil’s-bit scabious in the meadow at Coulters Dean was clearly providing welcome autumn nectar - this one practically being hugged by one of a plethora of common carder bees today #WildFlowerHour

Wild clary and knapweed at Portland Bill today, self-heal at Lakeside Country Park yesterday and meadow buttercup there on Monday. #WildflowerHour
I almost missed this solitary squinancywort - minuscule but, when you get close enough, it absolutely sings out #WildFlowerHour
I encourage weeds in my front yard (as you may have noticed). I was a bit taken aback when Help Agrimony set up there - it's huge. I eventually had to trim it because I couldn't get to my front door while the car was parked. The insects love it, though. #WildflowerHour

Hoary mustard in a very dry field edge plus an apple tree with fresh blossom growing - confusing time for plants.
Daisies! Common Ragwort, Smooth Sowthistle, Bristly Oxtongue, Rough Hawkbit*, Ox-eye Daisy, Lesser Hawkbit*, Groundsel, Dandelion, Nipplewort. All seen In Plumpton Green, either #pavementplants or in the local churchyard.
* see separate Hawkbit post for details #wildflowerhour
A couple of Common Dog-Violet plants seem to have returned for the autumn! #WildFlowerHour
A few from Saturday's walk around Cambridge for #WildflowerHour, names in ALT text.
Interesting to see Spiked Speedwell coming into bloom for a second time this year.
Nice to see some Autumn Red Dead-nettle too, normally an early Spring flower 🙂

Less showy than most of the other weeds, but a bit special because I see it so rarely. Sticky Groundsel with its distinctive curled outer petals that look a bit half-hearted compares to the 3 species of ragwort that grow nearby. #WildflowerHour
Slightly wonky Dandelion with a faded Carder Bee #wildflowerhour
Oenothera biennis ~ Melyn yr Hwyr ~ Evening primrose.
The evening primrose rosettes that I assumed were for next year have all started growing & flowering. the ones from summer have buds all over the place #wildflowerhour
