It's hard to give up on someone you love. Even if you should. Only the individual knows when they have to walk away. It doesn't always make sense.

Yes, it's really dark, like Ace in the Hole 😱
Ok. Eyes averted. Sound off. Is the 🦇 scene over? 6 weeks ago I woke up to a bat flying around in my bedroom. It was horrifying, & I ended up needing to get rabies shots because that’s the protocol now if you wake up to a bat in the room w you. 😱 #TheLostWeekend #TheNoirCollective
That is interesting. I did think the "nurse" sounded anachronistic.

It is almost unbearable to watch this movie it is so painful
As per critic William Ahearn: “There would be many alcohol and substance abuse films in the coming decades – The Man With the Golden Arm and A Hatful of Rain, among others – yet it wouldn’t be until Panic in Needle Park that any film would surpass the realism of #TheLostWeekend.” #TheNoirCollective

@scenarist.bsky.social asked me last week, “Can we also say this film started or expanded the addiction struggle film? Not obsession, but actual addiction?” Absolutely. As one example, I don’t see how Louis Malle’s The Fire Within (1963) exists without #TheLostWeekend. #TheNoirCollective

This film is so well done and realistic it is painful for me to watch. The way he he has filmed it as a horror film really gets across the horror of addiction. I’ve watched someone go through withdrawals and it is horrible and heartbreaking
I can’t help but think that a creepy guy saying he’s a nurse (not an orderly) at a time when that meant a woman is supposed to add to the ickiness of the situation. Some kind of covert & negative gay representation? A trope of “the sadistic pervert”? Hmmm. #TheNoirCollective #TheLostWeekend
Impressive button size on Helen's coat.
“I’m gonna walk out of here with that quart of rye, one way or another.”
One day earlier, Don couldn’t bear people thinking he was a thief. Now he’s abandoned all pretense of a moral code. You fully believe he’s prepared to kill for that next drink. #TheNoirCollective #TheLostWeekend
You can tell this was filmed in 1945. No, not the milkman but the sight of an El-train in Manhattan.
BTW: That facility has really poor security.
