Hard choice again in #mincup26 finals, but I'm in for #Bergkristall (or #Quartz).
Apart from its usefulness for time keeping its use in decorative goblets in the 16th century is fascinating mastery!

OK folks, it's the LAST ROUND to vote in #MinCup2026, a wholesome competition where you don't have to hate reading about the candidates and you'll learn fascinating stuff!

#Quartz has a strong lead but plucky #Cuprite 👏 is closing the gap! It's a win either way, but your vote could decide it!

Mind blowing 🤯 #TeamQuartz #MinCup26 #Quartz you can vote for Quartz at @mineralcup.bsky.social also learn about other exciting things ‼️

Although I should vote cuprite as the last metallic ore mineral I am fully behind #quartz today.

For big crazy pegmatite quartz!

There has been a lot of talk about piezoelectricity in the match, but little about exposure dating. Vote #quartz in #MinCup26 for the O2 atoms in the quartz crystal structure & the predictable way they are converted into beryllium isotopes when exposed to the Universe and not inside a mountain.

#Quartz #TeamQuartz has staying power! Real #Strength 💪🦾 #MinCup26

Re-upping this #Quartz aka rock crystal vase on display at the Prado for #MinCup26 !⚒️

Its time has come - vote #Quartz in the #MinCup26 finals.

@calamitycowboy.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 4:23 PM

Alright, while I maintain that #quartz is just the coolest thing, the properties of cuprite are one surprise after another! For being a pigment stone with conchoidal fracturing, I'm voting #cuprite for #MinCup26 champion!

@ninacarsonpt.bsky.socialOct 1, 2026, 3:36 PM

Working with accelerometers has to make me team #quartz right?

@crystallised-cricket.comOct 1, 2026, 2:29 PM

On the face of it, the two #MinCup26 finalists seem kinda samey at the atom-level. But #Cuprite has interpenetrating networks of atoms and is magnetic - it deserves you vote and the 2026 crown over stoic #Quartz

Image representing the crystal structure of Cuprite - here red spheres represent oxygen atoms, and blue spheres represent copper atoms. The structure has been expanded over a,b and c axes. The representation is drawn in VESTA from entry #7351 in the American mineral databaseImage representing the crystal structure of quartz- here red spheres represent oxygen atoms, and blue spheres/polygons represent silicon atoms. The structure has been expanded over b axis to show off quite how really basic it is. Yes it is piezoelectric, but don't let that sway you.
