I would by lying to myself and to everyone else in my life if I didn’t admit I was having a meltdown. I had gone to bed with a sick, injured black cat and woken up next to another man.

At first, I could have sworn I was either still sleeping or having some medication-induced hullucinations about the whole thing. I would have believed that if not for the fact I reached over and touched him. The bandages from the previous night that were on the abdomen of a house cat were not on the skin of a human male.

Then he spoke, in a deep voice, looking straight at me as my fingers traced the bandages carefully. “Good Morning, Human. Thank you for taking care of these wounds last night. I had, sadly, been in an altercation with another cat who, much to my jargon, was not another shapeshifter in disguise”

Now, standing up on my bedroom floor, with a pointed finger at the man in my bed, I was trying to come up with words that could explain the absolute shock and astonishment.

“What? Have you never seen a shapeshifter before?” He said, so fucking calmly.
