Flags at Night. Both sides, somewhat mixed up. At least politicians are beginning to say that Westminster is finished. Let's hope so; they are making such a pig's lug of it! #theferrisfiles #metaphorsaplenty #acrylicpainting #mycottenham #frustration

Explosion 1. As with the previous post. Acrylic and gel on canvas board. Wonder if the person who came to look yesterday will take the room? Fingers crossed; I'm getting desperate. #theferrisfiles #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #frustration

City of Ashes. April 2022. Responding to the horror of Ukraine, but applicable to other nonsensical theatres of war. Adds tons to the caron dioxide and heating. But no-one seems to care about any of this! #theferrisfiles #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty #frustration

Word Child. My favourite Murdoch is inevitably 'The Sea, The Sea.' But have rea lots of them. Should pass on some nmore books, but it's very hard to choose which and when. Hopeless! #theferrisfiles #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #frustration

Set Text. I loved 'East of Eden.' Didn't like 'The Grapes of Wrath' half as much, even if it's labelleed aa classic. Life drawing this morning Ok, t not great. I am very tired, and the model very chatty. #theferrisfiles #acrylicpainting #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty

Really like Rose Tremain, though I found one off tee ecent ones too bleak, and diddn't finish it. I was escapism, not realitty! Nonethles, she managed to get a depiction. Ttastes change. #theferrisfiles #acrylicpainting #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #nostalgia

I loved these Thames & Hudson art history series. Got 2 as prizes in the VIth Form. Art was not one of them. That went to Bray in the 4th Form. They couldn't take it back off him once the incompetant art teacher bestowed it! #theferrisfiles #nmetaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #frusration

Related Work. Will post the book still-lives shortly. This book was a present from a 'friend' who turned out to be a sh**! Never mind. You learn from being beaten down by unworthies. Very unexpected. #theferrisfiles #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty #frustration

Head and Stone. Push the paradigm as far as you can. But at the same time I hate 'art' that needs an essay to 'explain' it. Like the crack in the Tate floor. Post-colonialism my arse! #theferrisfiles #metaphorsaplenty #mixedmedia #frustration #mycottenham

Stones Ready. A reaction to hearing of stonings of gays in certain parts of the world. The West may think it's in the 21st century, but much of the world isn't even out of the medieval! Just sayin.' #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham

Heterodoxy. A classical education is a beautiful thing! I like this juxtaposition. Sometimes I do not bother to rename an image and it ends with a number from the camera import. I need a secretary. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty

The folder is called 'April 2019,' but I am convinced that these are scan dates. Sometimes it's accurate, but not always. I tey harder now to do it month by month. Yet another dargon, and enamel dots! #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #metaphoresaplenty

Close Reading. Mixed media on prepared paper. Lay awake thinking about the ethics of casual sex. I wonder sometimes who on earth is living in my head. Will tell you the practical results after the event. #theferrisfiles #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty #nostalgia

Will add the last 3 after this tomorrow if I remember. The latter group are on an A5 sketchbook. I like working on black backgrounds. My Dad got me some big paper when I was in my early 20s. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #memory

You can see the title. Hope it doesn't offend. It is meant to explain the obsessions of the human race at the monet. Glass is see-thru and is NOT diamonds. The Mexican pantheon has a god of the last thing! #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham

Lipsync. The ink figures look like two diving figures; may be that I am thinking about the allegorical piece I want to work on. I am always fascinated by the way my own head works. Shower ina minute. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty

Going Caving. Sometimes there's a gap between getting most of the structure done and adding a male figure. Another similar one to be worked on over the weekend. I went potholing a fair bit, but we live miles away. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham

Echinoderm. And if anyone says Kusama, they'll get a slap. It'd be like claiming the influence of Guston if I used vermillion at all! This folder is called Holidays 2018. Not sure it is! Pizza packaging. #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty

Communal effluent. Just went to pick the last few blackberries before they wither. Scratched to buggery. Next door cut a swathe down, but left the clippings on the ground. Doubtless C being a nuisance? #theferrisfiles #mixedmedia #mycottenham #metaphorsaplenty

Imprint. So you've had all 16 of this block. A tiny fossil cast. Better go and put on the oven for the bakers. This part is about my boyhood, its transience, set against the permanence of rocks. #theferrisfiles #metaphorsaplenty #mycottenham #acrylicpainting
