Possum Update: Life is pretty good here. Chewie the brushtail & joey have been in the far eaves tray every day this week. The joey is getting quite big now. They have had a snack & good out on secret #possum business. This brushy came along later. All good. #mammals

What looks like a mom bear and two cubs were caught on three different trail cams in the yard. I don't think we've seen this trio before and they didn't hang around much, maybe they were just passing through.

Sadly, probably the best picture I have of the Cape ground squirrel, Xerus inauris. This and the mountain ground squirrel, Xerus princeps, are why I went. In those pre-9/11 days, I had no trouble flying home with hundreds of samples in 95% ethanol. Namibia, 2001.
