Oui, oui, I feel so very French when I pronounce the word #mélange!

Try it.

You are the place my thoughts settle, the soft light that feels like home. Knowing you exist in my corner of the world softens the edges of everything. What once felt too delicate to show now feels protected by a soft shield. Your #mélange of love feels calming.

there are some days that
the inner clash sparkles
like diamonds, or a metallurgists’ fire;
yet others exist, in the shadows
a #mélange of chattering, questioning
seemingly eternal, a struggle for peace,
those days, the blanket awaits

I asked to see my future, so the boy lit his pipe and blew smoke hard in my face. The #mélange of life punched me in the nose. It smelled like holiday sea breeze, forgotten perfumes and Sunday roast dinners. When it faded away, I asked him if I would be rich. He shook his head, disappointed.

The purpose of Dylan bringing his senior staff, and other notably informed crew, together was to hear the #mélange of different opinions and interpretations of what, exactly, they had found.

The general opinion, unfortunately, was that no-one had the first clue. The ship was a mystery.

This was a particularly strange cavern, boasting a #mélange of varied creatures that, in most cases, would have already set upon each other long ago and the winners would have quietly laid down to let their lunch settle.

Rory had to make his way through them to reach the boss monster.

A hodgepodge assortment of potpourri, forming a collage of mosaics, mismatched and jumbled into one big beautiful mess that somehow all fits together - like my mind.

“I #Mélange!”

In everything scene we see,
there is a seemingly random
#mélange of people, things,
ideas and happenings.

Most times there’s a unifying
thread or theme that underlies
it all, including our place in it.

Sometimes we see it.

Most times we don’t.

Wrote a short story years ago about the park bench i used to sleep at when i was at my lowest. Didn't get to finish it. Thought to write about it again just because.

Different people sit here," the park bench sighed, "I've tasted the whole buffet. A mélange of smells, sights, and tastes."

"You 𝑡𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒 them?" the boy asked, clearly thinking about how he hasn't bathed in a week, "How do I taste like?"

"Bitter. The bitterness you get from 70% chocolate. That's good. I've tasted the other kind of bitter. The bitterness of regret, of unimaginable pain, of betrayal. The last one's the foulest, I think."

If it could, the park bench would have shrugged.

The streets were full of the usual tourist mélange: more strings of Chinese than last time; fewer Japanese, maybe; same motley British stag- and hen-parties.

They all had two things in common: vacuous eyes; and being in the way. The 'Dam's a bugger when you want to get somewhere.

It's a smooth #mélange of cocoa and class. Take the calories, and stick them on my ass. Pull out the rack, let them cool for a minute. I've got a buttercream with dark cocoa in it. Swirl it on top like a crown on a king. One bite of this cupcake and angels start to sing.
