A thick blanket of coastal fog hangs over a quiet inlet in the Pacific Northwest. Dense evergreen forests cover the steep hillsides, their treetops gradually fading into the pale gray mist. Below, rugged cliffs of exposed rock and weathered earth give way to a shoreline scattered with dark boulders. Calm, blue-gray water fills the foreground, curving around a wooded point toward a distant shore that is barely visible through the fog.
