#FantasyIndiesSeptember 29: Introvert, extrovert, ambivert

I'm so introverted people never remember I was in a room or at events.

Dorilian is... probably an ambivert, but with strong introvert tendency.
Hans and Aubrey are ambiverts all the way.
Endelarin is an extrovert.
Marenthro? Introvert.

29) Introvert/Extrovert

I'm sure it will shock you to learn that I am the biggest introvert to ever introvert.

Renard is not. He is not like me. He is an extrovert: outgoing, loves people. He wouldn't have any trouble marketing his own book! Wish I could give him the job.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember

29) Are you/MC an introvert, extrovert, or ambivert?
@jasonmhubbard1.bsky.socialSep 29, 2026, 9:03 AM

Kane's introverted, sticking to his family estate and practicing magic. Callie is extroverted, going out and hatching criminal schemes. No way are these two right for each other. 💔

#FantasyIndiesSeptember 28. Thoughts on DNFing a book?

Sometimes you just gotta pass on a book if it isn't doing it for you, or there are issues/content that is disturbing or triggering. And you shouldn't feel bad about it. And sometimes you just don't have the spoons to deal.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember 27. What research do you do for your writing?

Since this wip is heavy in lore, I've had to look at a lot of specific mythology and pantheons for different cultures to get a sense of what works to the magical side. I also look at some specific cultural traditions/practices

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 28: DNF books

I used to finish everything I started or at least tell myself I would, which was exhausting & not that fun. Life's too short & there are too many good books to stick with books that don't keep my attention.

9/28 #FantasyIndiesSeptember

Life’s too short and too full of other stuff to read to not DNF books I’m not enjoying.

Usually, though, I don’t outright label it a DNF. I just stop picking it up eventually. Every now and then, I’ll come back and read it all the way through.

28. I hope people finish my books upon starting them, but if they don't, then that's my failure as a writer rather than anything on them as a reader.

Day 28. Your thoughts on DNFing books.

You shouldn't force yourself to read something you're not enjoying. Life is short. DNF the book. Read something you love.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 28: Thoughts on DNFing books? I think I need to do it more often. Sometimes I'll finish a book and think, "Well THAT was a waste of my time." But there's some sunk-cost fallacy involved, especially if I've spent more than a few dollars on a book. #BookSky

#FantasyIndiesSeptember | 28

Life's too short to suffer through a book that's not your preference. DNF if you need. However, I feel like if you DNF something, maybe not worth leaving a review.

28: Your thoughts on DNFing books

Depends on your goal while reading that book. Is it to have fun? To entertain yourself? Then DNF away. I know I do.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 28:

Yes, I do DNF and quite often, but I don’t tell anybody about it and I don’t leave any review or rating whatsoever. I read many, many samples without ever going any further. Life is short and if you can’t obligate me by the first 10%, then it ain’t happening…

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 28

It happens & it's not the end of the world!
I usually finish the books I start, but there are exceptions. My last DNF was from an author that I adored as a teenager. They changed, tried their hand in a new genre and it wasn't for me.

#FantasyIndiesSeptember 28

Admittedly, it takes a lot for me to DNF a book. It has to be *really* badly written with lots of typos & grammar errors, or it has to dive into topics that grind my gears significantly!

28) I don't really do it because I have changed my mind about a book over halfway through before, and I think I can get something from books I don't like. But I also don't judge anyone for DNFing. You don't gotta waste time on something you're not enjoying! #FantasyIndiesSeptember

#fantasyindiesseptember Day 28 DNFing

If I'm not enjoying something, I toss it back into the sea because while that might not be the right book for me, it's probably the perfect book for someone else. There's no sense in me continuing to read something I'm not enjoying. 💕

#fantasyindiesseptember Day 27 Research

Yesterday, I was just researching what you're supposed to do in the event of a bear attack, which differs depending on which type of bear is attacking you! 🐻

#FantasyIndiesSeptember Day 28

You shouldn't spend your time doing something that you don't like. As a writer we are not owed someone finishing our book.

That said, I almost never DNF a book. It has to be basically unreadable prose wise for me to do that.
