The monsters themselves are not necessarily the same. Two slimes, seen here, have different secondary talent point trees and, of course, can have different personalities as well.

There are also personality changing books much like DQ3. I clearly need 4 sexy slimes ASAP.

Have you ever seen these two in the same room together? No? Well... it's been known to happen in other DQM games. Just saying.

I had a feeling with that memory flashback event that's what was going on. This is even more like DQ6 than I initially thought!

Also slimes are the best monsters thus far. Total team slime. Not biased at all.

This story reminds me somewhat of Dragon Quest 6. It's not an uncommon theme that the bad guys draw power from causing suffering and despair but it does feel like it's quite literally the nefarious plot here.

DQ6 is one of my favs of the series so it's not a bad thing!

The arrow lines here are a good visual indicator of your monster's targets. I rather like it for at a glance verification of actions.

Doing lots of monster recruiting and exploring! Enjoying the systems thus far. The wiggling bushes being monsters is neat though haven't found anything too great just yet that way.

Only complaint I have is the mini map should show more. I have to open the large map a LOT to navigate.

On the whole music topic: the main theme you hear in town in Boughborough is the same as the sad theme when you revisit Whealbrook in DQ5 as an adult.

I expect there to be lots of DQ5 crossovers given the Bianca and Nera of it all.

This music is from Endor's Arena in Dragon Quest 4. It's a great atmospheric anticipatory piece. I half expect to see Tsarevna Alena walk out from behind the corner.

Also bathing with slimes is a thing! I'd advise against Mottle Slimes though. You'll end up with spots that lead to some awkward questions...

Anyway unlike DQ5 that totally guilts you into picking Bianca or else suffering years of regrets and consequences... I'm picking Nera!
