🎶We sailed across the air before we learned to fly
We thought that it could never end
We'd glide above the ground before we learned to run, run
Now it seems our world has come undone🎶

🎶It gets so sticky down here
Better butter your cue finger up
It's the start of another new year
Better call the newspaper up
2.50 for a highball
And a buck and a half for a beer
Happy hour is here🎶

Gord Downie was a master at using phrasing to paint a picture & tell a story with interesting lyrics, a spoken-sung delivery, and powerful, effortless vibrato.🇨🇦💪😎
🎶It's as bad as or worse
Love is a curse🎶

Singers can shape, accent, and pace words within the rhythm and melody, whilst also using dynamics, tempo and inflection to tell a story/ convey emotion. It breathes life into songs and makes them unique.
These are great. 😎

@zargon2112.bsky.socialIt was cold by the time I got to it (still eating now...during 'Late Night' #DeckFetch 😄) and it's still very tasty and soft!
I like (good) cold pizza, too. 👌

🎶So I found out your reason
For the phone calls and smiles
And it hurts that I'm lonely
And I should never have tried
And I missed you tonight
So it's time to leave
You see it meant everything to me🎶

🎶There's nothing changed
Look in your eyes
You're worlds away
Where art is love is science
A million miles
A thousand minds
Now worlds away
Don't say goodbye
When you can love only one thing
And they want you to know
It's you🎶

🎶It's late and I'm with my love alone
We drink to forget the coming storm
We love to the sound of our favourite song
Over and over
Dancing with tears in my eyes
Living out a memory of a love that died🎶

🎶With building bricks of trust & love
Mountains can be moved
Love come down upon us 'til you flow like water
Burning with the hope of insight
Feathered, look, they're covered with a bright elation
Stolen in the sight of love🎶

🎶You got the socket, and I got the plug
I am the floor, and you are the rug
I got the rhythm, and you got the beat
We feed each other from our souls to our feet
And you know I love you
You know I love you, don't you?🎶

🎶And maybe love is letting people be just what they want to be
The door always must be left unlocked
To love when circumstance may lead someone away from you
And not to spend the time just doubting
What is love anyway?🎶

Great melodies/warm, joyful, melodic vocals & lyrics/cool beats and layered synth rythms & grooves, his music just hits right. 🎹😎

Fantastic writing!👌
🎶Nobody led you on
They left that to you
Now you'll be alone
When the sun comes up
With your tattered little dreams
And a broken cup
Then you'll have to
Trust yourself
And don't believe in anymore lies🎶

🎶As I write one more letter to you
No, I can't change the things I do
One day when you discover
Just why I ran away from you, lover
Well, I know I'm to blame, I feel so ashamed
Called out your name
Oh, after the rain🎶
