At sunrise, Bowman Lake lies nearly motionless beneath the dark outline of Glacier’s mountains. The peaks remain deep in blue shadow, their ridges and summits sharply silhouetted against a sky beginning to brighten in the east.

Broken clouds spread across the morning sky, their undersides still blue-gray while their edges catch the first pale silver and warm yellow light. The calm surface of the lake mirrors the clouds with remarkable clarity, turning the foreground into a second sky. A narrow band of reflected sunlight stretches along the distant waterline, marking the gradual arrival of morning while the mountains and forest remain in shadow.

The result is a distinctly early-morning landscape—cool, still, and dominated by deep blues, with the first sunlight appearing quietly behind the mountains.

I used to pack in there w Mattie and Kluane 2015-16 before it burned. did not bother going down to it, probably would have cried. this entire portion of the Carpp Lakes trail down from the pass and around the Upper and Lower Lakes burned over.
