Totally under the proverbial weather still and failed to post my Sunday walk pics beside the river. I love seeing all your posts of nature around the globe, we are all under the same sky!

Beautiful view today of Roseberry Topping as seen from the Kings Head at Newton Under Roseberry. #photography #nature #yorkshire #hillside

View towards the summit of local hilltop Roseberry Topping. Hedgerow and corn fields in foreground then green tree covered slopes leading to the rocky summit. Clear blue sky with hardly a cloud.

Playing 'whack-a-mole' on migration? 🔨

In @yorkshirepost.co.uk ✉️, Chair @leedsblue67.bsky.social exposes how #Brexit severed EU databases & returns pacts, leaving the UK stranded while populist grifters profit from chaos.

Time for real security cooperation! 🤝 🇬🇧 🇪🇺

#Leeds #Yorkshire #UKPolitics

A scanned clipping of a letter to the editor published in The Yorkshire Post on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, headlined "Britain playing 'whack-a-mole' on migration" by Peter Packham, Chair of Leeds for Europe. The letter argues that while collective action across Europe is vital, the EU has already implemented its comprehensive Migration and Asylum Pact across 27 nations. In contrast, Brexit severed Britain's access to vital European biometric databases and tore up returns agreements, leaving the UK playing a hopeless game of migration 'whack-a-mole' as smuggling gangs shift routes. It condemns masked anti-migrant demonstrators dressed like bank robbers as un-British intimidation, and accuses populist figures of never wanting the crisis resolved because the chaos is too lucrative for their political grifting. It concludes that the UK must abandon isolationism and rebuild practical security cooperation with our European neighbours.

Ben was lucky enough to catch a few rays when he completed the #Cottingley Fairy Trail with Nick and really liked seeing the augmented reality fairies that Nick caught with his new phone app

Ben, standing in a sunlit city square, wearing a blue top, orange shorts, trainers and a white cap. He is holding a teddy bear in one hand and several colourful toys in the other while giving a thumbs-up gesture. Several small, digitally added fairy-like characters with colourful wings appear to be flying around the person. Benches, trees, pigeons and a large stone building can be seen in the background.

One afternoon in North Yorkshire — moor or shore?

Whitby's cliffs and ammonites, or the high fells above Swaledale? Tell me which you'd choose, and why?

#MoorToShore #Yorkshire

A cinematic, atmospheric landscape capturing the duality of North Yorkshire. In the foreground, the dark, wet shale of a coastal cliff reveals the ancient, coiled geometry of a fossilized ammonite, slick with North Sea salt spray. The mid-ground transitions into the vast, silent heights of the Swaledale fells, where weathered limestone scars cut through deep purple heather under a heavy, mist-laden September sky. The lighting is low and moody, highlighting the coarse textures of lichen on stone and the ethereal, fleeting movement of fog rolling over the moorland. Deep charcoal, slate blue, and earthy moss tones dominate the frame, emphasizing the tension between the permanent rock and the shifting weather.

As a ‘naturalised’ Yorkshire person (a Londoner born and bred, now lived here for 40 years) I think there is a lot to recommend this. Give us back our Ridings in full and a devolved administration! And I think Cornwall deserves the same. @mayorofwy.bsky.social #Yorkshire
